Question, can you answer?

Hi everyone,

So a few months back I had posted a thread about possibly getting a BOV, not for the sound but simply for the performance aspect like holding boost well. I got many replies saying that it wasn't worth the upgrade and what not and that the stocker would hold just fine. Well I got the Dejon spring upgrade after that since I was thinking about modding my car a little.

Today I went back to dyno my car. This time though I went and dyno'd on a dynopack ( first dyno was on a dynojet and got the numbers you see in the my sig) and got 297whp and 350wtrq ( dynojet gives 10% more). The thing though that I noticed and the owner of the shop was that my boost pressure fluctuates like crazy. While doing one of the runs the owner was observing my bov and noticed that it was leaking as I did one other run. The charts then confirmed it. So now here I'm back wanting to collect an audience in wondering why I shouldn't bother with getting an aftermarket BOV when the stocker with the current power doesn't cut it. Can anyone answer why I'm facing a problem that I was told I wouldn't have to worry about??

If you think a new BOV will reduce the fluctuating, then by all means, get one.

I believe a BOV upgrade is needed when tuned....

Have you had any problems since the switch? People were saying that codes were going to be thrown if I got one. Any?

Could it be a problem with replacing your spring? Try putting the stock spring back in and see what happens...

I have heard people are having issues with the Dejon spring upgrade...

True, but the issues that are arising from the spring upgrade are the solenoid for the wastegate burning out. I'm just leaking pressure that needs to be held.

I don't claim to be an expert, but some people were experiencing "fluttering". Not exactly sure what they mean by that, but it seems to me that this might be some sort of leaking...like what you are describing...

Fluttering, interesting. I don't know exactly what that means either, anyone? Also, your talking about this occuring with the spring upgrade or with aftermarket bov?

I just did my tune and I hold at about 23 PSI. I say that because I have a few STi buddies that immediately told me there is no way that stock BPV would hold that for long and would leak eventually. So I'm actually happy to see this thread lol. It sucks for you but it just made my decision for me.

My only problem is that Hahn hasn't released the BOV for there CAI and Charge piping yet!

HAHA, what about me with my CIA boost piping, I'm going to have to call Dan and ask him what he can do for me. If we can all learn from my problem, then I can go home happy for all.

I've heard this is the problem for the spring upgrade. Actually, I think I have read some people had the issue and changed the spring back to the stock one...

Ok, back to the subject. Anyone else owning the LNF based Cobalt or HRR have any inputs?
