Quick Exhaust Question

Hey all,

I managed to scoop up an aftermarket muffler/exhaust tip from my father's shop about a month ago. It's in good shape, but I'm on the fence about installing it.

Two reasons for this: If it is too loud, I'll have to swap it back to the stock exhaust which is just lots of pipe cutting and more hassle than necessary. And that's simply because I often work late at night and don't feel like waking up my family and neighbors with an obnoxiously loud car.

But my bigger concern is this. The exhaust system on the car measures 2.5 inches, and the inside of the muffler is clearly at least half an inch smaller, then goes to the 3 inch tip. Would this small difference have an effect on my power?

Thanks for any and all input!

Changing the muffler tip won't do anything. If you're getting exhaust do the full header, dp and catback To get any power gains. No power difference w/muffler tip.

All the muffler tip will do is make your car slightly louder. Not too loud though.

This. You don't want to decrease the diameter of your exhaust at any point below the stock 2.5".
