Funny that they have the speed3 in first. C&D is the only magazine that was able to get the speed3 to run faster than the TC. Most have the TC quicker by a couple tenths road and track tested their speed3 at 5.8 to 60 and 14.4 at 102 in the QM. The Tc ran 5.5 to 60 and 14.0 at 104. Mazda has rubberly trans and does not handle quite as well but has a much nicer interior than the Cobalt. I thought about getting the mazda until I drove it.

I like how they say the Mazda has "calling all cops styling". it barely looks different than a regular 3. but the Camry is a suprise in there.

More old people drive those mazda3 wagons than younger people.

The one thing i hated about the MS3 when i test drove it was the kill joy at the top end saposably the 2010 has been tuned for better top end.

I seem to remember reading in a previous C&D test that they didn't use the no-lift-shift because their test procedures require that they lift off the throttle for shifts... which explains why they were slow by a couple tenths.

Just a guess but maybe that's just what chevy gives them, basically the same mule test car....from what I keep seeing it's the same car in every magazine test. I also think it's marketing for "family oriented" people to show you can have a family and still have fun (kind of what this article was saying). Maybe they figure that the younger people without kids already know what the car is capable of.

I don't understand how the MS3 could be faster than the SS/TC...I mean theoretically. The MS3 is heavier, and has a lower torque/hp to wheels than the SS/TC does (with the TC being under-rated). Sure it's a 6 speed, but that just means an extra shift before 60mph...something doesn't seem right...

I remember an artical on the speed3 when they were testing 0-60 and mazda told them the best way is to launch at 2200 and shift at 6000 and dont lift. so why could they do it for the speed3 when its not evan made to NLS. i can see how a test would indicate you have to lift on a car that does not have a program to help with NLS but not doing it on a car that is programmed to do it safely.

If i could go back in time, i would have probably went the speed 3 also. My father has the speed3 and he blows me away everytime. This is with my mods in sig. Of course he is not stock but damn they are quick.

The torque on his car scares the **** out of me. lol

MMm... I like a lot of the cars on there.

I'd love me a C30..

I gave up on the GTI being fast a long time ago.. glad it's still in 4th though!

MS3 has never really been my style, I like the ss/tc 4 door though, it's a bit more refined IMO.

2 door is nice, but it has a really aggressive look, if you ask me, the 2-door ss/tc has a more "calling all cops" look.

I think Chevy needs to step it up with their interiors, I don't like how some of the interior feels cheap.

The only thing I didn't like about the speed3 when I went to test drive it was that the stuck up dealership wouldn't let me test drive it. After getting into an arguement with the manager about it I went and bought my SS/TC. Their loss...

The shifter on the MS3 feels more rubbery. The SS's shifter feels more "mechanical" and shorter, it's more precise.

It makes for cleaner, faster shifts in the SS.

With all that torque in the MS3, it's harder to get a clean launch and make the most of that 1st gear.

It's a fine car though... i love it.
Two buddies of mine have them... the white is niiiice.

Seriously, since when has a GTI ran a 6.0 second 0-60 time? I have never seen that in any article.

Am I wrong?
