Recalls
I am looking at the bulletins/campaigns in the system and there is none that refers to the brakes in any fashion.
This is the oil plug one.
#08200: Customer Satisfaction - Engine Oil Pan Drain Plug Thread Insert Loose or Damaged-Inspect/Install New Insert - (Jun 25, 2008)
Its 08200
The other number you refer to isn't there and I've looked at all issued items for the last six weeks. I don't know how you could have a bulletin if we at GM engineering don't have one published yet for a brake issue??

My point... think outside the box
Not all cars will have the problem right? I mean if there doesn't appear to be a problem there's no need to replace anything correct?
Rissa this is correct.
Theres Recalls: These are safety related items mandated by NHTSA
Theres Bulletins: Details the correction for an issue resolved by a new or improved part.
And Customer satisfaction campaigns: Usually to correct a quality spill (ie like the drain plug issue)

Oh the recall is real, the only thing is some people hear about it before others and confuse the situation. I would say don't worry about it since your car will be garaged, and not driven, have a good time, get wasted/drunk/crunked what ever you want, and by no means think about the recall on your vacation!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Mr. "My dad works for GM and I know it all" most recalls are found by multiple warranty jobs submitted, that raises the brow for GM to investigate....... meaning its only a matter of time and some people might be riding around with slightly warped rotors already.

But for everyone who has not experienced problems, they would prefer that they be fixed before an issue occurs...
Nothing you stated there was incorrect...just irrelevant...
If you read the whole thread, you will see other guys that work for GM that have the same thing to say that I do...if it applies to your car...go get it fixed...they don't need to check for a problem...they will replace them if your VIN qualifies...
Even if you took your car in to have them rotate your tires or replace your windshield wipers...even the smallest thing...they would run your VIN to see if there are any service bulletins out there...they are asked to do all work every time the car comes in...
I like this guy...everyone gets all over my back when I get info from my Dad and think I'm making it up. It is nice to know that there are other GM guys out there who actually know what they are talking about...

i knew you were telling the truth yesterday, i checked with my warranty admin and he had the same e-mail that your dad got, some people just like to think they know what is going on with GM
That is a given...

Right now, if you look up your VIN in the system is has the bulletin number and just lists N/A for the description. The e-mail my Dad go said the rest of the information would be going up there today...
I asked the dealer if I should call back later this week when all the info is posed and they said if it is listed today, it will have to be done. If it lists the bulletin number, it will apply to your vehicle...just go ahead and make the appointment...
