Reconfigurable performance display (SS/TC)
) at the Midwest meet. I took some video and pics and told them Id post it up to get feed back from the rest of the css.net members. They asked us these questions (the ones I posted up) and did up a nice slide show at the meet. We were also able to ask them any questions we had about the SS/SC and SS/TC.The senior designer (GM Performance division) gave me his email address so I’ll be in contact with him soon.
BTW, I cannot give out any of the GM Performance guys info, SO DONT ASK.

If it had all the selections you listed , it would be a justifiable purchase . I would likely click the option box on a brand new Cobalt , I however would not buy one for my 2005 as I already have the abilty to view any engine parameter I need to and a portable weather station for the track . Among all the performance parameters , thats pretty sweet its basically a weather station too diplaying humidity and barometric pressure , 2 #'s I watch all the time when I go drag racing .
What other options would you like to see in the RPD?
What the RPD has to offer.
Air / fuel ratio
Shift light
Digital MPH
Boost
Engine Temp
Outside Temp
Current weather for the day
Tire pressure
Oil Temp
Spark advance
Knock retard
Engine HP and TQ
Cam Phaser
G meter
Digital gear number youre currently in.
And more
You also have the ability to change the color, appearance, order of display, shift light setting and more.
GM Performance said this option should be under $500.00 for the SS/TC LNF and would cost over $500 for the SS/SC LSJ.

square? looks out of place on the a-pillar, bulky like a gps or something. and for 500 bucks? I'll just get an AEROFORCE Interceptor gauge for half the price and fits in the a-pillar. Or for less than twice the price I'll get a pimp ass Pioneer 7" touch screen display that shows similar readings, plays DVD's, CD's, MP3's, etc.
I would like to see it integrated into the dash. Maybe just below the air vents?
I would also like to see cabin temperature as well...the wife and I are always "discussing" if it's too warm or too cold.

it would be really cool if it was a glass circle (a bit bigger then the normal boost gauge) and mounted in the same place..except it was all digital...somewhat like the concept ..but not square and bulky
It's a sweet unit though.
I think that this is a really cool idea. But it would need to be either a little bit smaller, molded a little bit more into the A-pillar, or just a large tachometer style, just round. Maybe even put the shift light on top like a lot of the racing tachs.
The current design just doesn't quite flow with the rest of the interior.
But it definately has potential.
