Regret?
Hmmm... I don't know if REGRET is the right word, but close.
I've already had a BUNCH of problems with it.
I miss my RSX-S. Granted, the SS/TC is WAAAAAAAY faster but the RSX-S was a better car. Sorry to the fanboys, but it just was.

I'm kinda regreting it. Too many problems with it and the payments are kinda high. I miss my civic. Juss like the guy with the rsx. This car is much much faster but I never had one problem with the civic and I beat the **** out of it daily which I'm scared to do with this one
Nope. The payments aren't high unless you put nothing down or rolled in an old car payment. I drive it harder than I drive my Scion tC and its never had a problem. Of course the Scion was paid for so if it didn't have about $10k in warranty parts and I had any faith that the problems were fixed I'd still be driving it.

i do, in 4 more months i could have a paid off base that i had put alot of money into. the brakes on this being bad 2 weeks after i bought it, tho it was used, pissed me off. the fact its windows arent tinted, and yes the dam cup holder, i had a whole taco bell cup of mountain dew spill
ESC malfunctions which took them 3 tries to get fixed and just a bunch of other various issues.
Some people just get lucky and some don't. Don't blame it all on the owner.

I don't regret my purchase, Cobalt SS Turbo 09 is a great vehicle, for the performance in a 2 door coupe that returns decent fuel economy, shifter is pretty good as are the seats....its a great vehicle in terms of an economy sport compact for the money.
If you don't throw crazy tunes and mods and this/that/the other thing on it, it'll stay bulletproof, the LNF engine is a stout motor. Personally, when I get my SS out of winter storage, GMS1 and a DP are going on it (and if any decent exhaust comes out for it) and thats it performance wise. ~300hp/330ft/lb torque is more than enough in a FWD configuration for a DD. I have 12,000 miles on mine, the rear brake squeak is annoying, but outside of that one known problem, the car has treated me well.
Today, I could have purchased a SAAB 9-3 compass for 23k OTD or purchased a base model HFV6 Camaro with a 6speed for the same price (insurance would've been higher on Camaro as would've interest rate) so if I could have BSR tuned a 9-3 with a 6speed black on black, or gotten a new Camaro, those would've been amazing purchases. But that is today and not 9 months ago when I purchased my 09SS.
All in all, glad I bought the car, but as the saying goes, "a deal today is a deal tomorrow is a deal next month" there's always a better deal, you just have to purchase what is good for you

I'm mad because my 09 ss sedan seems slower than when I got it, which is probably just me. Anyways, I knew what I was getting when I got my car, as far as its downfalls. The rear brake issue is annoying but livable, and I've noticed that when I step on the gas hard the throttle seems as if it is surging somewhat. Overall, I'm happy with it, as it is a sleeper and accelerates good. No other car I was looking at had the acceleration and practicality for the price. I'm glad I got it, as I doubt GM will make the cruze with this much power.
the only regret i have is trading in my s10, i should have kept it. And i was kinda screwed the dealer was pressuring me to finalize the deal and little did i know cash for clunkers was coming out literally the next week so i missed out on about $3000
??? You still qualified
I do kind of regret it, I could of got an Evo 9 MR for the same price :S but I decided against it because I knew the previous driver and even though the car was only at 20k miles it already had had the rear end replaced because he threw it out, he never drove it easy it was always pedal to the floor and just wasn't treated well, therefore I didn't want it. I also came close to a 06 GTO but I decided I wanted a "Tuner" car over a Muscle. Came close to a WRX but decided against it to for some reason that I don't understand. I think it was just the fact that the Cobalt was faster then it and looked better. I still think I was an idiot for passing most of the other cars up :S
Regret - Yes, some of the time.
I traded in my '04 SVT Focus on the SS/TC. Bought it new in '04 and drove it 43,000 miles - no problems and never went back to the dealer. Sure, it was much slower, but the handling and braking were similar and so was MPG's. Hate to say it, but it was built better as well.
This car is ok so far. Hasn't stranded me anywhere yet @ 8,000 miles. Though it had been back to the dealer twice for a no-boost issue when it was 3 days old, and most recently for the rear brakes and the charge piping recall. All of which were fixed with no issues.
Little things annoy me about this car. Like GM insisting my doors automatically lock and the lights automatically turn on. Good safety features - sure. Do I personally want them - nope. The doors are heavy - did you ever notice any time you're on a grade and swing open the door, too many times it comes back and hits you as you try to get in or out? A couple of body panels aren't lined up, as well as interior parts. Shifter is notchy to say the least. I also have a 'creek' near my drivers door when I go out of driveways on an angle(trying to avoid scraping my front end lip). Like I said - annoying little things. Otherwise, everything works as it should.
There are some good things too. Love the seats. More space in the drivers seat than in the Focus. Waaay quicker than the SVT Focus yet it gets at least as good MPG's! Most recently I put a set of Winter wheels/tires on it and blasted right through 10+ inches of the white crap! Between the tires, limited slip, traction control, and FWD, this thing seems almost unstopable in snow. But that doesn't mean I'll be pushing my luck w/ it.
Yet, if Ford ever decides to offer some sort of Turbo Focus (an RS would be real nice, but doubt it'll ever happen), I'll be looking at it. I don't buy foreign, so my options are limited. And FWIW, I did look at the SRT Caliber before I bought the SS/TC. That car was not for me.

One of the best, if not THE best, cars I've ever owned if you consider ALL the factors which I will list. Bear in mind this is MY opinion.
1. Price? In my 65 years I've owned a LOT of new/different/economy/high performance cars, none of which gave me as much HP/$.
2. Fuel mileage? Averaging 29 mpg since the GM upgrade last May. Mostly around town but also 2 trips to NY. 11213 miles each way. I live in FL. But then, as I said above, I'm old enough to be able to drive it without putting my foor in the throttle body all the time but young enough to make a lot of the local bad boys put their hat on straight and turn off at the next intersection. OCASSIONALLY!! I've also tried the 1/8th mile for the first time but, for one reason or an other, haven't had it on the 1/4 yet. One of these days. Soon.
3. Reliability? I guess I shouldn't say it but I've had absolutely no problems. I still don't understand everybodys brake problems. I'm not suggesting they don't exist but if caught soon enough should be fixable. I've got over 15,000 miles on mine and the brakes show very little wear. But then I checked and adjusted the emergency brake immediately after hearing about everybodys elses problems. I pull the wheels to clean the back sides every so often during washes and check them at that time.
4. Wear and tear? I guess I should have put the brakes here. I think the tires still have enough tread for one more trip up north in April. I expect to have my new Enkei PF01's mounted with new BF Goodrich's, from Tire rack, waiting for me when I get there. I'll need new tires when going to, I think my nephew said, Lime Rock for track day. I rotate them every 4,000 to 5,000 miles. Which reminds me, they're due.
5. Fit and finish? Fit is good all around. The Red Tint Coat is a bit of a disappointment. I've had cars with better stock paint jobs. The 1970 Trans Am for one.The only alternative was to have the whole car repainted by the dealer before taking delivery but I decided I could live with it rather than have them **** it up REAL good.
6. One big negative is it won't carry as much as my old Silverado/Duramax and won't pull my 38' 5th wheel. But I can live with that too. Got rid of both anyway. But the sedan does well with two suitcases, Christmas presents for a 3 year old grand daugher and a Boston Terrier.
7. The car still puts a SMILE on my face every time I hear that little 4 cyl start.
8. Can't wait for my Trifecta tune when Vince gets back from vacation. Everything else is already on the car.
Can you tell I like my Cobalt SS/TC??
Oh!!! I almost forgot.
My other car is a 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT with a 2000 Corvette LS1 in the back. It's fun But I only take it out to church on warm, dry Sundays. RIIIIGHT!! If the SS doesn't do the trick that will. I like it too.
