ok so i went to the cleveland auto show yesterday. and i was looking at the new "2008" cobalt ss..... well after a chevy rep comes up to me and starts talking, she says something about "yea but it wont be released now untill about fall 2009.... and i said you mean 2008 right? the second half of 08..... she said no they just changed it not to long ago and moved it back a year..... i was in shock of disbelief so i asked 2 more reps for chevy. and the confirmed it. so either A) the reps at the cle. auto show dont know crap. or b) it was just changed not to long ago....... or C) you guys allready know this, and because i havent been on the forum in a while i didnt see it and im stating something allready said

you heard wrong.... they are being released here by may....

 

They have a huge parking lot that is being filled with them Monday - Friday...They should be out to most dealers by April.

 

i sure hope the ppl were wrong. but if not o well..... what really pissed me off is there concept camaro is like a giant plastic model. giant hubcaps. fake wipers,fake doorhandels,fake windows with fake tint... it was bad... cheapest looking concept car at the whole show

 

the turbo balt is supposed to go into production april 12 2008, or something like that. the turbo hhr is already out, no reason the cobalt shouldnt be soon.

 

Thats odd because its been the real concept at all the car shows. everything looks real. Not sure why they gave u the short end of the stick.

 

they better darn well release the car. i got money in my bank account for this car. i am looking at trading in the old ss/sc in on a new turbo charged.

Because it's Cleveland (j/p....it's law here in Pittsburgh....take advantage of all opportunities to get a jab in at Cleveland)

 

I talked with one of the GM reps. at the Chicago show and she didn't know **** about the SS TC , even though we were standing in front of it. When I asked her about the release date , she started shuffling though some books and gave me the same BS about an 09 release. Btw I spoke with the local dealer and he is expecting at least 2 ss tc by the end of the month. It is possible to place an order for one now.

i dunno why all the hype about the tc version. I read that it's almost maxed out for power as it stands. Something about the lnf not being able to handle much more.

 

If they did know what they were talking about then they probably misinterupted it and thought you were talking about the MCE which is fall 2009. By MCE I a complete makeover and restyling.

 

I just got a job at the GM in Lordstown where they are made. Ill know exactly when they are releasing them.

we are still building validation ss/tc but full production (100 cars a shift ) starts very soon. saw the ss/tc at cleveland car show and wished it had the ptional high spoiler to help it stand out a little more.

 

Its not the LNF that is the problem, its the tranny being almost to its max to meet GM's "reliability quota" So a stage kit will be hard to come buy without doing some tranny work first

 

I'm glad you answered that. I was about to retort the same thing. The LNF is a good motor but i agree that better transmission options could be had on GM's part. I am waiting to see the 2009 SS/TC sedan . If they spiff up the sedan a little and give it a robust auto transmission like the HHR SS, I'll be all over it.
