Replacing The Brakes. A Few Questions
Replacing The Brakes. A Few Questions
Hello everyone,
I will be replacing my front and back pads and rotors next week. Does anyone know of any online resources for changing pads and rotors for the brembos? It is to my understanding that there are a few extra streps (sliding pins, etc). I have done brakes a few times before, but never brembos.
Thanks for the help!

I bookmarked this thread some time ago, but it should help you a bit.

its fairly easy, the hardest part is pushing the pistons back evenly (they may have a tool for it but i never used one), what i do normally if i replacing both is. pull the pad pins, and take a big straight screw driver and put it in between then rotor and pad and push one side all the way in (doesn't matter which side first), put the new pad in on that side and leave it in. then do the same thing to the other side push it back take out the old pad.then remove both pads and proceed taking the caliper off and replacing the rotor, its important to leave the new pad in on the other side because when pushing the piston back on the other side it will cause the opposite piston(the one you just pushed back in) to come out again. Make sure to clean you pad pins really good and lube them, also despite what any one else says i always lube my pads also, I hope that what you were looking for?
UPDATE:
I recieved all four rotors, but only the rear pads. The fronts are being shipped as we speak. Just as important FYI for anyone replacing the rear brake pads, the 3.99 cube piston tool at harbor freight DOES NOT FIT. In order to expand the caliper without the special 40 dollar tool, just grab a buddy and some needle nose plyers, loosen the bleeder screw, have your friend hold the caliper against the wheel well wall, place the plyers in the two holes and turn clock wise while PUSHING LIKE HELL. If you dont push hard enough, it will spin but not retract.
Other than that, the install was rather routine. I will update when I do the fronts.

always good to have a friend who can make tools. or a mechanic father in law. makes jobs easier. 40$ isnt too high. use it and sell it to the next guy who needs it for his brakes. just sell it for what you paid and keep it goin
