hey ya'll! ive been trying to find pictures of an RPD at night! by that i mean pictures of the RPD fully lite up so that i could see how it looks at night. I have the analogue boost gauge and it looks awesome at night so im curious to see what an RPD looks like. Please post as many different shots as you can at different angles please. Im looking for a lot of pictures that show not just the RPD lite up but the dash and steering wheel included in the shot!!!
Thanks guys!!

if you read the "how to" thread elsewhere, you should know that you can swap the RPD into your car, but you will never be able to get imperial settings;
I can post up some pics if you like.
I personally found the autolights w/RPD to be a major PITA, so I had to wire in a switched resistor, so I could manually control when the autolights turned on the lights & dimmed the dash.
I also ofter run with imperial settings because I like & am more familiar with the non-metric values (only temp goofs me up).
- no HP/torque
- no boost in pounds
- no MPH
- no farenheit

I don't know if any states require it, but our cars here in the states have the option to be able to turn off the auto lights using the headlight switch...it sounds like Canadian cars don't give you that option.

I'm a bit confused. My 2007 and my 2010 allow me to turn of the Auto lights/DRL. Auto lights being that when it gets darker or it's night time, my lights come on. DRL are on by default and are part of the Auto lights switch in my 2007 and 2010. If I turn the *** clockwise, the DRL/Auto lights are 'off' and my interior lights stay bright the whole time. But the Auto lights suck because when I'm driving home, some of the roads have a lot of trees, so the light sensor thinks it's dark and turns the lights on (dimming the interior lights). It's a bit annoying and I feel like GM's light sensors suck. My parents Mercedes and my girlfriend's Toyota have better light sensors than this car (Not really that surprised.... it is GM )

So then I take it you missed this post?
with the RPD in nighttime (low light) backlighting, even though I could see the screen on the cameras screen while recording, when I played the video on my computer, the RPD screen was completely invisible.
if you see it in daytime conditons it's the same deal.
the backlighting is tied into your dashboard lighting - so the RPD is never too bright that it's distracting...
Do your light switches actually say "autolights"
You might be confusing daytime running lights with the actual autolights;
daytime running lights were required in Canadian cars starting in 1991;
Daytime running lights only make the low beam headlights run at all times;
The difference between DRL & AL is the tied in dash lighting;
These Cobalt "autolights" cannot be turned off;
The car can be put into a mode that flashes "autolights off" in the DIC when parked with the parking brake up, this turns the headlights off, and also turns any backlighting on the dash lights off - but as soon as that parking brake handle moves, the lights all go into their automated setup.
This is the whole reason why I needed to add the switch to disable the automated dimming of the dashboard lights;
I'm pretty sure that in many areas closer to the equator (relatively speaking) that you have shorter sunrises, and sunsets;
Over here we can have it last for upwards of well beyond an hour...

because as I previously understood, the Canadian cars are different in this aspect.
I cannot physically controll my lights;
the switch's presence is almost redundant;
all I can really do with the switch is turn my brights on or off;
the (Canadian) autolights remove any ability on my part to control the lights;
hense the "auto" in autolights;
hense the need for me to wire in a switched resistor to "fool" the autolights, and allow me to turn off the dash lights (and make the RPD brighter).
THIS was my first post on this subject;
I created that thread about a month after first buying the car.
Then I found THIS thread, and all was good.
