re: daytime running lights

Does anyone know if the DRL's are just a setting flashed to the ECM?

Frankly this fully automated setup is something I'd like to kill...

My major pet peeve, is that since I cannot turn off the lights when in motion, in dawn or dusk, hte DRL senses the ambient light and adjusts my dash lights to suit... this might not bother anyone with the standard boost gauge, but if you have the RPD, your DRL determin when you can, or when you cannot read the RPD...

Thoughts???

Anything??

Anyone?

no good, the only way I can turn off the lights is:
1) if the car isn't moving
2) use the multi function lever to turn off lights

this is a feature that allows the lights to be turned off incase it's a nusance when parked - otherwise the lights must always be on...

the lights being on (in & of itself) isn't the problem - the problem is the auto dimming associated with the DRL...

that being said, I'll look into the fuse - I didn't think that this was an option.

There is a difference between the Auto Lights and the Daytime Running Lights. It's the auto lights that are your problem, not the DRLs. Canadian cars are flashed different than American cars, so while they can turn their lights off, we can't unless the car isn't moving. Stupid ideas but we have to live with it. Pulling the DRL fuse will only prevent your low beams from coming on at a lower voltage during the day, which is what messes with HIDs.

If I've understood you correctly;
I was to be state-side in say a month or so - would I be able to somehow get the flash changed to kill the stupid "auto lights" deal - since it is what's messing with my RPD?

It's not like I'm going to need another saftey or anything...

You can always ask, not sure what they'll do though.
