the gap insurance at my bank rocks. had to use it a few years back and it covered my loan which was 2k short at the time and it gave me 1k for a new car. I ended up financing an older car through them for 1k dollars so I got a free car because my old one took a dip in a lake. Very scary btw.

if you don't have gap insurance, you are going to get bent over, they give you NADA, which is going to be like $16,500 or so... owe more than that on your car? you will still be making payments on a totaled car

Gap insurance guys, best $1500 you will ever spend in buying a car, it prevents this from happening

Yea when they bend all that metal back its going to be weak in the areas were its been hit .It will never be the same. Its totaled period ,Going by the pics id say that the Frame is fucked no helping that. The control arms and struts, the ball joints to much to list it is toatled.**** state farm, they will try to screw you trust me i went through that **** with state farm before. I had a 04 cavi, bolt on and n2o some one stole it so i get all my reciepts of everything i bought for it .. They would not pay because i modified it and they say they dont insure modded cars so i had to file bankruptcy in order not to have to pay off 18,000.00 for a car that got stolen..**** STATE FARM!!!!!!!!

Yeah, well I talked to the original adjuster and he mentioned that if I had receipts that I can show that they will compensate me for the loss. We'll see.

I'm the third party claim, so their insurance has to pay for my car. Hence why I'm expecting a lowball offer....

So they can only take 194.90 off the price that you would have to pay for. So pick the highest one and buy the lowest.
Okay, thanks ... I haven't received any calls yet, but I'm expecting one today. Ugh, this situation has me so freaking nervous.

Would it be possible for you to get the rest of how ever much you owed out of the person who hit your car?

Honestly, I'm not too sure considering I've never been in this situation before. I don't feel like going through a lawyer as that's everyone's first option they choose. I want to exercise my rights first and if that goes nowhere then I'll look into further action.

I understand but I would NOT pay anything out of my pocket when you weren't even there when it happened.

EXACTLY! I did nothing wrong but park my car in a legal spot and work for my company. I am the victim, not the accuse.

I agree, although you will probably have to take the person who hit your car to court.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to that. This is just a PITA, this is the absolute last thing I feel like dealing with! My job sucks (not fun), and now my car is in shambles, it has been raining out all week, so you can tell what kind of state I'm in right now.
