Shift cables broken AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First time the cables broke was from going to the track.... I stopped the abuse and now they've (cables) broken from going into reverse!!!!! TWICE!!!! this is a POS. There's a reason that Ford put a rod shift cable system into the Tuarus SHO in 1992... It's because the damn cables streched, got tangled and\or broke often.... The rod shift kit made the car totally different!!!! it drove 70% better and more smooth then before with the old cable shift linkages.

This needs TO BE RESOLVED before I go off on GM like no one has in a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why? I've given GM two tries in purchasing two other GM products in the recent past and had nothing but problem after problem after problem.

The dlr never stepped up and took care of the client\customer, the same can be said about GM N\A....... GM products have really gone DOWN THE TOILET THESE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone here works for GM corperate on a high level or very high position at a dealer, you should be asshamed of yourself!!!

If the cables have streched or were broken, its driver error. If you abuse it, it won't last. Quit blamming GM on the problem. My first cobalt had 150,000km and the cables we not streched at all. Try driving a little easier

LOL wow, You're really making an impact with that rant. Maybe you shouldn't beat on your car if you suck at driving it...

I'd be pretty pissed too if my shift cable broke while shifting into reverse. Assuming the car was stationary, there shouldn't be any issues with shifting in reverse. Sometimes you may have to clutch out and clutch back in if the teeth don't mesh right away, but still...

Granted, I don't know how he treats his car, but if this happened for any normal, reasonable treatment, I'd be very ticked off!

Yeah me too. I've never had this kind of problem but I don't see what the point is on picking on him. How do we know?

I've seen stranger things. Plus he probably was pretty careful after the first time.

He posted in here before complaining the car was a POS because he slammed on it at the track and broke the shift linkage. It's not exactly a huge stretch to assume this guy doesn't take good care of his cars.

Wow totally amazing.

You beat on the car and it breaks. How was this GM's fault? Did they beat on it for you? The dealer and GM have every right to not take care of this problem. Problems caused by abuse are almost always easy to spot for anyone that knows what they are looking at.

Stop banging gears. The first time you broke it at the track... surprise there. A production car breaking at the track?! No way, what a piece of ****.

Second time... I bet you beat on the car some between the time you got the new ones installed and now. Guess what, beating on your car stresses it out, everything from axles to your transmission and YUP the shift cables too. Just fix them and move on, stop whining.

My shifter cable is being replaced due to it being bent. That was around 1500 miles. They were on backorder. Guess it's a common problem. I don't really beat on mine that much. This kinda thing never happened on my camaro, not sure why it's such a common problem with these.

That would be nice on this lol. Only thing that ever went out on my SS was the master cylinder, replaced that when I upgraded to a spec stg 3. Still don't get why they use this in the cobalt, seems weak.

It's hard to sympathize under the situation.
