Shift cables broken AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, these are just cheaply made cars that had a moderate sized strike at Lordstown take place during the build, and have crap for almost everything put in it or on it.
I I've had many manual tranny cars (true high performance cars with over 450 hp go to the track hundereds of times on stock clutches going 45-48k miles before any issues) not this sporty economy car called the SS\TC....... Also, ford made a high performance sedan several years called the SHO from 1989 to 2001. The first years had cable shift linkages, they kept breaking and finally a SHO owner developed a rod shifter conversion and ford nought it from him and applied it to the SHO's from 1992 to1995 when the SHO went to automatic only and a V8. Most of you probably have never driven a car with more hp then these little econo-cars or cars with rod shifters \vs. cables, so keep your filthy traps shut
Stop banging gears. The first time you broke it at the track... surprise there. A production car breaking at the track?! No way, what a piece of ****.
Second time... I bet you beat on the car some between the time you got the new ones installed and now. Guess what, beating on your car stresses it out, everything from axles to your transmission and YUP the shift cables too. Just fix them and move on, stop whining.

The first time the cables got tangled just off the dealer lot with 15 miles on it, then broke, so I turned around limping back to the dealer. Had the car for 3.2 months and 95% nice soft city driving. This time they broke backing out into street, that simple action did it.
I also have had all of my cars go over 150k mi as I use them for work and put nearly 75+ miles a day on them, change the oil every 2000 mi.

There are plenty of people on here that has had no problem at all with there shift cables.
I'm one of them, I made over two hundred passes at the track with mine plus hard street
shifting.
You just got a bad one get rid of it or quit bitching.

I got a bad one too then because I have to get my bent shifter cable replaced with a new one and since they were backordered (which tells me they might be a common occurrence), so I have to take it back on Monday (ordered it a week ago).
the spring on my cable blow out on my car and i was just driving down the street. i had a 03 cavalier before this on and i was always slaming into every gear in that car and never had a problem but this one i take it easy. i took it to the track 4 times and only ran it like 4 times each time.
Hey Sportred. Just a heads up..Some of your comments are making you look like the immature one. To renounce your membership is only going to get people to take jabs at you. With that out of the way..
I understand your anger. To pluck down a large chunk of change for a car that was tested to withstand a zillion no lift shifts-->only to have it fail the way it has.. Would drive me beserk as well. If it can withstand no lifts then "spirited" shifts should b a breeze. Right? Hell, I grinded countless shifts trying to get the "no lift" perfected. Makes me wonder when I'm going to have a problem?! I say you go rambo and take this to the highest channel you can. But not the way you have presented it in this thread. I guarantee you will get the cold shoulder. Look at it this way..This may be a common problem for our cars and you could become the pioneer for a happy result for us all. I wish you the best of luck and maybe a prozac or two

i know why he is upset. i was just as upset when my 08 lt blew the tranny at 60 miles. then again at 1200. i am on my third tranny and grinds the **** outta 3rd and 4th. both of which was during what i call my break-in period i don't beat on anything till its about 2000 miles. i know partially overkill but it works for me. its just a little bs when you buy a brand new car and it ***** on you in the first couple days. but my dealership went to bat for me against gm and got me money and a warrenty for the inconvience. but if i had to do it over again i would because like it or not the cobalt is made in america. i don't know how many others you can say that for, and being american i buy american.
yeah well when i brought mine in it sat there for 3 months on the rack. and GM "engineers" were looking into the problem. nothing like buying a brand new car only to have it sit unusable. kinda sucked. it just made me finish my dropping the smallblock into the s-10 and drive it faster than i really wanted to.
I have broke a set as well as my good buddy. Personally I think the stock cable sheath ends that are plastic are shitty. They crack and cause the cable to bend, thus causing missed shifts and whatnot. If GM spent an extra few bucks on some aluminum end sheaths, then this whole damn issue would have never happened in the first place IMO. Don't even get me started on how strong our gearbox's are because that's at least a day long speech!
I for one beat the **** out of my car... sees 6k probably 10 times a day every day since it has been bought.. i use no lift and can probably drive much better than you... my car has 8500 miles on it, the clutch has not showed one sign of slipping, even though i have ridden it out really bad once... I really don't know how you can be breaking shifter cables unless you fucked with some thing... My shifter cales are liek the last thing i worry about breaking.. You just suck
i meant maybe he should get an HHR SS auto seeing as he has such bad luck with clutches and shifters and whatnot
as for anger management. Its not our fault he cant drive. Ladies and gentleman if you abuse your car stuff will break.
As for GM testing it 600x times without failure, thats highly optimistic.
We do not drive racecars, and even then. Racecars break tons of ****. and they fix it with the race teams' own money, they dont go to the manufacture and bitch.
If you crash your car at a racetrack, your insurance wont pick up the bill, if you break your cars stuff at the race track, your warranty will not pick up the bill. And if they do thank them with a smile. either way stop the whining
