Shifter Cable Keeps Popping Off Shifter Ball

Hello, earlier tonight did a no lift shift from 2nd to 3rd in my high mile 2009 Cobalt SS and the front back shifter cable popped off the shifter ball at bottom of shifter. Got car home and popped cable back on. Shifter works fine until you get a little aggressive with it and cable keeps popping off metal ball at bottom of shifter.
Has anyone experienced this ? Is there something I'm missing ?? Is the plastic cup just too worn out ?? etc etc
Thanks.

You have to get a new clamp. Don't go with a new OEM one, get an aftermarket one, OTTP has one and so does TWM but they're pricey.

Since you're in Canada I'd suggest BPS cable clamps. They're based in Quebec. Chevrolet Cobalt SS/NA Cable Clamp
