Yup a couple Saturdays ago my 3rd gear went bye bye. I'm working on getting a 4.45 installed. Taking longer than expected. I really want to be back up and running

On this one I'm partly to blame. I had a race event I went too. Long story short I had a dead clutch pedal at wot and I tried to force it in 3rd. It been scratching since on quick shifts. So I did a pull the other day and 3rd finally went.

I had the whole rotated mounts but the shop that did my clutch didn't do the right install procedure like I asked them to. Never letting a shop touch my car again. After I was done with the install. Hop was gone

Nice! They feel stout but it's a lot more shifting than my 3.82 was. Say goodbye to lower rpm interstate driving. Makes me hate 1-2 gear ratios even more.

Refresh my memeory please ! The 3.82 is stock Lnf ? And the 4.05 is stock Lsj ? My old lsj felt like the gears were every bit as long as my lnfs. Or maybe i just cant remember right. Ir was 5 years ago i sold my ss/sc and bought my ss/tc. Or maybe its because my tc has waybmore power then my lsj had and the lnf flies through the longer gears quicker . lol.... Idk.. Either way. Whats the advantage again of running the 4.05 in an lnf over there stock 3.83 ?

the 4.05 and 4.45 trans in an lnf doesnt put as much stress on the 3rd gear as a 3.82 would, because of the power an lnf can make having the gear ratios closer in a 4.05 or 4.45 doesnt break 3rd gear down as much.

^ this. The 4.45 trans makes the car feel stout. I miss my 3.82 gears though driving down the road or in town going 0-30 at stop lights.

The higher rpm make me feel I should be shifting to 6th lol. But I do love the extra oomph of 5th.

Ok... I would love shorter gears with a little bit more omph as well some day. So the 3.82 is the lnf ? And the 4.05 is the lsj transmission ? I assume it bolts right up. And all that needs to be changed is the shift bracket that gm updated for the lnf ?

I cant keep traction at all in second as it is. Now that im hp tuned. I can only assume that the 4.05 lsj transmission would make it even worse. For that matter if the gears are shorter and make the cars feel more stout. My car might start loosing traction in 3rd gear.

Yes thats correct LNF has the 3.82 gears, LSJ had the 4.05s. Everything bolts right up or you can even just get the gears and install those, but they arent the easiest to do haha.

yes your traction will still be at a loss haha. it will move out much quicker though and you will still have traction in 3rd esp if your still on stock turbo. K04r might break it loose but youll still be good.
