Steering column rattle; is gear upgraded?

Steering column rattle; is gear upgraded?
So I know that this issue is all over the site. I found my car is doing it, and it's definitely the gear for power steering. I did find there are recalls for it and 2010 is part of it, but isn't...... I don't get that just like how 2010 power steering motors are recalled but not. Anyways, does anybody know if the new columns are upgraded? I didn't want to spend $350 on a new column to only be temp fix. If I can get my hands on a cheap used on, I'd really like to see if that gear can be improved.
