Stage 2 clutch
Stage 2 clutch
Current clutch is going on my 09. Throwing about 315 ft lbs torque right now and getting a tune soon hoping to be throwing closer to 340-350 after.
Any suggestions on a stage 2 clutch or a clutch with good torque capacity?

you should just get the LSJ upgraded kit from CED. likely a better prices and it will hold the power and torque you plan to put down.

Some may disagree, but I've always bought a clutch with a much higher torque rating than I need that way if you ever decide to up your power you don't have to worry about the clutch.
So that stage 2 might be great for you now, but what if a few months from now you decide to go with a bigger turbo, your stage 2 might not handle it.

Stock clutch isn't doing good I'm not the best at using a clutch because I only learned how to drive stick 8 months ago but I was told by more experienced people that there is no reason my clutch shouldn't have lasted more than 10,000 miles with the way I was driving.
I can only think that its the fact that the factory clutch cannot withstand the extra power.

The stock clutch can handle it for sure. i learned to drive manual in my car and already have 24k miles driven by me on that clutch 85k in total no problems
And outlander yeah I agree. Stage 2 I think is good for about 380 ft lbs torque, I've heard that people who have driven stick for 10+ years then did some work to a cobalt with factory clutch and the clutch went after 15,000 miles
Probably. It could be that this has been the same clutch since when the car was first purchased. I bought the car with 48,000 miles it has 55 now and from what I've seen they can last anywhere between 25xxx-100xxx.
Not sure if this has been the same clutch since first purchased.

I thought the 09 and 10 have upgraded clutches compared to the 08 ss. But that's what I think I've read don't hold me to it. Either way mine isn't stock and a good clutch isn't bad to have lol. Go stage 3 at least. you never know what you'll do in the future. Most recommend going stage 4 on a sstc
Fk stage clutches. Get the gmpp and have it hold the power and slip if the power gets to crazy that way ur tranny doesn't go boom. The other clutches don't have any slip and out little tranny just can't hang. Driver mod like you said depends on clutch life mines stock i think with 93k on it. Get a gmpp save some money and have a good solid clutch that I doubt u will slip unless u go for like 400-450tq+ lol and ofc no low rpm wot's haha
Get the GMPP clutch if you're just learning to drive a standard. A pucked clutch and traffic is a nightmare for a driver not that familiar with that third pedal.
Also no matter what a clutch is rated for you if you drive it like an idiot it will not last, saying that the stock clutch should of lasted you another 10k after another driver drove it unknown is not a good assessment of the stock SS/TC clutch.
If they killed the clutch in 15k they def need to revisit how to drive a car standard, its not a truck or a semi. ******* the clutch and shifting at less than 3k all the time will destroy these clutches.

I'm probably putting down close to 400ftlbs of torque on a fully bolted ko4+ and my stock clutch doesn't slip at all. I will go back with a gmpp clutch when I change it. Can't beat the price. But if you know you are going big turbo then spend more than double. I agree, puck clutch probably wouldn't be good for you or the trans. Can't imagine trying to launch the car from dig with a puck.
I'm saying idk how new the clutch is it could be the same clutch as when the car had no miles and was brand new.
Like I said I bought the car with 48k miles and have 56k now.
Thing is it had a boost leak when I first bought it and as soon as the wiring was finished and I got the full boost (which is around 21 lbs) my clutch started getting weaker.
That's the reason I'm saying it may be the clutch not being strong enough.

The stock LNF clutch held in my car for the PO with the KO4+ hitting about 380wtq and he changed it to the GMPP because he was a rather frightful owner no reason other than that. The GMPP will hold anything you can throw at it with a KO4 or KO4+ and maybe even the KO4++
Trust us, the clutch is strong enough, this isnt our first rodeo. Your clutch is probably shot from a combination of the previous driver and you learning to drive. Also if you're going WOT in 4th gear from 60 you're gonna have a bad time...seriously no WOT below 3500 unless you're starting from a dig or a 5mph roll
