Are the stock TC wheel considered aftermarket ?

Hi guys,

I'm about to buy these lug nuts for my car : Evasive Motorsports | PH: 626.336.3400 Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm PST: Project Kics Leggdura Racing 2pcs Shell Type Lug Nut - 53mm Open-End (16 + 4 locks)

I was wondering if it would fit since it says at the bottom of the page :

" NOTE: LUG NUTS ARE MADE WITH TAPERED BOTTOMS SPECIFICALLY FOR AFTERMARKET WHEELS. DO NOT USE THESE TUNER LUGS FOR YOUR FACTORY WHEELS. WE NO LONGER ACCEPT RETURNS ON LUG NUTS FROM CUSTOMERS WHO ATTEMPT TO USE THEM ON FACTORY WHEELS. THESE LUGS ALSO DO NOT FIT ON SPECIAL WHEELS THAT REQUIRE INVERTED LUGS. WE WILL ALSO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS FROM CUSTOMERS THAT TRY TO USE THEM FOR THESE TYPES OF WHEELS. "

So yeah I was just wondering if these would fit before I spend 200$ on them.

Thank you !!

The OEM/Factory wheels are not considered aftermarket. Why would you even ask that??

Those lugs will not work with your factory wheels. You will need to find the correct taper for your factory SS/TC wheels if you want to run aftermarket lugs.

The funny thing is that they will work. The warning is for vehicles that use ball seat lugs (Honda), instead of taper seat.

They should work like Grave said, just have to be sure the seat isn't too big in diameter to fit down in the lug hole on the wheel. I've had that happen before

True true.

That's why I mention to check the taper of the stock wheels, because my aftermarket taper lug nuts for my Enkei's will def not work on my stock wheels.

I should have specified that before just saying they won't work.

He's asking if OEM wheels are considered aftermarket. Gotta give him a little ball busting, lol.

All in fun.

Others were definitely "tougher"

To play devil's advocate here, I'm willing to wager that English isn't his first language (probably not his fault he was unfortunate enough to live in Quebec) and he didn't elaborate very well. He asked if they'd fit, and as mentioned by others and yourself there's no easy answer.

OTOH, 200 bones (CAN or US) seems pretty ridiculous for some lug nuts. Is that typical???

Imho $200 is outrageous for a set of lugs. I paid $70 for forged steel extended lugs.

Taper lugs are all 60 degrees. The main differences will be the surface area of the seat which determines if they can be used for steel or aluminum wheels. The physical dimensions can also vary (OD and length), which may prevent them from being used on certain wheels.

Correct, and that's what I was getting at by checking it. Not the angle of the taper, but does it have the surface area to clamp the wheel correctly.

I would never run my aftermarket lugs from my enkeis on my stock wheel for that very reason.

For example, neither of these lugs are ok to run with stock/oem wheels:

The VMS lugs are the lugs I run with my Enkeis.

Serious question:

What exactly is wrong with running the lug nuts on the left on stock LNF wheels?

The thing is I've been running those exact ones on 2 different sets of LNF wheels for over 5 years now and they seem to do just fine even when wrapped in R compounds and pulling 1.20 lateral G's at the road course...?

Alright,

First of all thank you for answering

Like exninja said english is not my first language so maybe I did not express myself as well as I was hoping.

I thought maybe that by "aftermarket" they meant mags, not just some random winter rims. I've never had aftermarket wheels so I didn't know the taper ( just learned a new word ) was different.

I've had a set of red lug nuts that I paid 60-70$ and they turned pinkish after one summer. I have read that if I want them to keep their color they had to be anodized and that the Project Kics lug nuts were very well rated and I've yet to find a single bad review about them. I would rather pay an extra 130-140$ and don't have to worry about them fading off again.

I found out that they had a 22mm of diameter so they should fit :

Once again, thanks for the answers !!
