SuperChips canned Tuner
SuperChips canned Tuner
I bought a superchips tuner for my turbalt a lil while back and love it! Im not in to too much more power than what i am at now (303whp and 313ftlbtq). The responsivness is great and is truly that extra pep the car was missing in stock tune. I have had no problems with this tune and will slap and hold passnagers back in the seat under full 22psi wot with a spike of 24 psi.
I eat up srt's , hemi's and pretty much all rice. Horse increase to dollers was very impressive. I use my turbalt as a daily driver (all year, pirelli snowsport winter's) so I dont have physical upgrades (charge pipe, down pipe upgrades etc. just stock with K&n oem replacment and the superchips tune) i burn the stock rubber upon wot).
Anyone else runnin superchips and their feed back regarding so...............

I have a cortex for sale if ayone interested pm me. I would tell anybody that it is nite and day over a stock turbalt.Car shoulda came from factory like that. Had mine for like 8k miles with no problems other than a slipping clutch and even picked up about 4mpg.Excellent bang for the buck mod
it is a great starter tune, I had it for over a year and it was night and day difference over stock... I hurt plenty of feelings with it
since then, i've went the Trifecta route and with my bolt-on is the best route, but the superchips is nothing to be ashamed of... it will really put a smile on your face over stock

The stock turbo craps out at 15 PSI, it is tuned this way by GM for longevity and reliability. Through testing by T/P companies and GM themselves it's been found out the turbo can handle up to around 24 - 25 PSI while still being reliable. The increase in this boost offers a substantial horse power gain.
Tunes like this Superchips tune you can purchase, plug into your car and within minutes the vehicle is retuned. The problem with a "canned" tune like this Superchips tune, the GM stage 1 tune etc. is they don't take into consideration any other modifications to the vehicle.
If you were to purchase an aftermarket intake, exhaust system, charge pipe etc. it throws off the air fuel ratio and the car could potentially lose power, run rich/lean. If you are purchasing any of these parts you would need a Trifecta or HP tune which is custom to your particular vehicle and specific modifications.
That is a very general overview of the tunes, I hope the info is correct as I'm pretty new at this myself.
I'm not a genius in regards to this stuff by any means either, but since nobody responded to this I'd give you a bit of info.

really, you could probably get away with a CP and Downpipe, now you won't see the gains of a "real tune" with them but you won't "lose power" or your car won't run like ****... I ran both with the Superchips
a cold air intake....you're going to definitely want to get a live tune

The Superchips tune is a great tune for someone who is going to remain relatively stock . I ran 13.45@106.5 with just the tune . I added a catless DP and K&N drop-in later and it ran fine with them ..... It actually felt a bit stronger after they were installed .
My fuel trims with just the K&N filter were as high as -8 LTFT...... so I'd imagine an intake would really throw them off.
