towing with a 2009 T/C
no. you cant even tell it on there. someone posted pretty detailed pics of their black ss/tc that they just put on. im sure if u search you can find the thread. you cant tell its there until you fasten the insert/ball, which you obviously only put on when you are ready to connect the trailer anyways.
for sure. no seeing out the rearview. my new ss/tc has low-rise tho, which is alittle better.
bolt kit, wiring and hitch all from uhaul.

sweet!
there is no reason it cant tow a light trailer. ppl tow bikes to the track all the time. i put 110,00 miles on my 05 SS and towed my bikes to the track all the time. the car never had 1 problem and you cant even tell there is anything back there aslong as you get a super-light trailer and are only hauling something light (like a dirtbike)

to answer your question.... My 95 subaru with 135hp coudl haul my snowmobiles with ease. these cars have more than enough to haul stuff with. more power than the 80's trucks that would haul campers etc.. so yeah, it might look funny, but whatever, they'll do it with no problem at all.

I am planning on selling my 98 blazer lt and getting a 2010 cobalt ss. And I was hopeing to tow my small 4x8 trailer with my 04 kx 250 dirt bike. This car out powers my blazer! lol 4.3 190 hp 250 tq tow rating of 5500 cobalt ss 2.0 260 hp 260tq tow rating of 1200 I think gm says. But still my bike and trailer is no heavier than 3 more adult people in the car.
i have 30k miles on my 08 SS/tc now and i have a hitch on that, pulling that same trailer (different bike tho). no problems what-so-ever. cant even tell its pulling anything really.
just dont be like this guy hahaha

i love how people on hear think they know everything. I never second guessed the towing capability of the cobalt, a little physics knowledge should teach you enough. My car "will look stupid" with a hitch in the back, once i hook it up to my supercharged 215hp jetski then will see if it looks stupid.
As for the hitch, Where did you get yours ah665? I found tons of them on the internet but I want to make sure it'll actually fit the ss with the back lip. I cant tell you how many things I've ordered in the past years and stuff didnt fit my particular model even when it said it did on their website.

You can tow light loads, but you certainly have to take care that you don't screw your clutch/trans by doing it. I'd imagine your warranty would be invalidated from towing damage.
The manual clearly states to not tow if you have the 5 speed trans.

It pulls my new sea doo gti se 155 with no issues, even feels more stable then the colorado I borrowed the first time I pulled it home from the dealer.
Down the road I might trade the car in, its one of the reasons I went completely stock (other then GMS1 and drop-in filter)...I'm just waiting for a deal from GM on the 2010's and at that point I do not feel I'm getting completely screwed on the balt...Its going to be paid off in around 2 years now (it was much sooner but I used the money for the sea doo instead lol)

^^^ same boat. i just got a g8 gt in the fall, and the dealer was offering me crap for me cobalt, so I didnt dare to trade it in when my payments were (and now over) this month. I'm not too much of a fan of the uhaul hitch I dont know why. I went ahead and bought the Draw tite hitch as well, thanks!

The rear of mine (crappy BB picture and just playing around)....Debating if I keep the car adding rear ground effects..the SS/TC Sedans do not have them, but I have been thinking of various ideas on changing it around. The Coupes do a nicer job of hiding the tow hitch.

I plan on taking it out on Saturday (if the weather clears up)..I'm still in break-in period and hope to put 2-3 hours on it if I can. I'll take a picture of the car loaded down w/ the trailer attached. I use the 4" rise ball mount (#3594)...My Sedan is lowered as well (pedder springs ftw again)
And putting it in the water

The ball mount (#3594)
