Traction Control On When Off, Off When On
Traction Control On When Off, Off When On
So coming home on Sunday I got the urge to romp on the car a bit, temperatures were hot/humid, but the car was driving fine on the way to where I was coming back from. I turned off the main highway onto the back road I normally take to get home and decided to blow it out a bit and go for a NLS from 2nd to 3rd. At this point the car was:
1) Fully up to tempterature
2) TC was turned off but not in competitive mode. Light was on indicating it was "off"
I get up to about 3200RPM and stand on it. Car is pulling perfectly fine, KDWs are holding like they always do and just as I went to NLS I noticed the boost drop off more than I expect at the top of the RPM band, felt a loss in power but did it anyways, went off without a hitch. I decided to keep going, hit a 3rd to 4th NLS, no issues, car's fine. So I figure whatever maybe the super humid air overwhelmed the turbo, no big deal.
I get down the road to a stop sign, get on it pretty hard in first but not enough to lose severe traction, hit second, punch it and the boost is all over the god damned place and I can feel the tires letting go. NLS into 3rd again, car pulls fine, no boost issues. At this point I figure ok something is up.
I proceeded to drive around testing losing traction out coming to the realization it was behaving like TC was on. Sure enough every time the tires let go with TC "off" (ya I'm gonna quote it
) it would start cutting power, only in 1st/2nd (3rd grabbed fine) but the DIC never reported "traction control" was active. I turn it back "on", step on the gas in first/second, tires are happily roasting away, no traction control, no loss in power/boost, etc. In other words, my car's behaving backwards. Traction control "on" it's off, "off" it's on. On a side note when in Competitive Mode everything behaves the way I'd expect it to including launch control (yes I stopped in the middle of the back road and let it go to check).
Anyone else run into this? I've considered just disconnecting the battery to reset things, perhaps one of the modules is out in left field. Scanned for codes last night nothing, but it definitely is in the same state again this morning.

Weird is right! An no other tunes, just the GMS1. I've been driving it hard since all the motor work was done just over a week ago to make sure it checks out (powertrain is running great now) which is the only reason I happened to notice it. It didn't do this up until the last few days when it got ridiculously hot/humid so I can say with confidence the dealer visit isn't to blame here

I definitely didnt hit the rev limiter cause it would so it at 4500ish rpm as well
. I'd thought about that since it happened on a nls but no dice, happens when I hear my tires letting go.
Hmm, can't say mine's ever done that but when I shut everything off it seemed to be fine as well. I'm going to get in the habit of turning it entirely off every day and see if I notice the same behaviour or not...I don't exactly need traction/stability to get to/from work but will be on the highway quite a bit this weekend where I have more of a chance to try things out
