Trade Value on 2010 SS

Hey guys, was just wondering what you think a fair trade in value would be on a 2010 SS with 42,650 miles on it. Only mod on car is a GMS1 tune....I also have an extended warranty on car good through 72k miles/Jul 2016....not sure if that increases the value or not.
Only blemishes on car are some rock chips on the front bumper and a 2" deep scratch on driver side door.

Autotrader Trade-in Marketplace quoted me at $8800 which seems kinda low...

Thoughts?

That seems about right. You can get more from a private sale though.

As mentioned, you'd come out much better selling private party. I'd at least try listing it on autotrader before trading it in. When i was in the market, I was willing to drive up to 300 miles or so for the right deal. The dealership wants to buy your car at wholesale price same as they would at auction, so I definitely wouldn't expect any more than clean trade value at most and they might haggle over that scratch to beat you down further.

The sad thing is that these Cobalt's have a low resale and trade in value.

It's very sad indeed. Unfortunately the market views an SS as just another Cobalt. Which it is, but they are much more valuable to people like us and that is why a private sale would net far better results.

I had to fight to get one of my local dealerships to give me an 11K offer for my 2008 SS with 25K on it. I didn't end up taking the deal, but private-party will definitely get you more money. It's just a hassle when your car isn't paid off. A hassle worth 5K, though? Damn right.

private sales will always net more cash, especially when it comes to sporty/rare cars.

It's really not that hard to sell your car as along as it is paid off.

Yeah after I bought my 2013 Boss 302 I talked with my Salesman about possibly trading my Cobalt in. At the time my 08 SS/TC had like 40k miles on it and that was in February 2013, and I was able to get them to offer me $10,500, but I never traded it because they didn't have the car I wanted at the time. Then I got offered 8500 by 2 other Stealerships and declined them. I guess after buying a 45k car my Ford Dealership was willing to hook me up, LOL. But as stated, Private Party is the way to go.

I was pretty pissed when I totaled my car back in 09 and after 10months of owning her I went from 24k to 15,800 from the insurance company. After that I decided not to get another Cobalt.

If you don't have time to sell it private party, you can always visit Car Max and get cash on the spot. Be prepared for the low ball offer though...Good luck.

Well that's because 2011 SS/tc cars are about as rare as they come.

If you can find transportation to get you by from a private party sale to buying your next car, you can make some good money. The KBB PP value on my car is 9700 in very good condition, but every SS/tc for sale within 500 miles of me (there are only 8 on Autotrader) is priced well over KBB, whether it be PP or retail. I listed mine at 10,750, and I don't expect to go far from that number to close the deal.

I'd go with a C6 over those, but if you need a daily why don't you just keep your LNF?

Damn man. I hope you had GAP insurance through the bank. But yeah the value is because we use a "state approved market survey" that does not factor in dealership cost for reconditioning, profits, markup for negotiation, etc. I feel like it likes to low ball people most of the time. I feel kinda bad sometimes, but that's what I get paid for. I'd probably **** myself if I ran a valuation on my own car having just purchased it five months ago. There are ways to squeeze more out of the market reports, but that's all up to the adjuster handling the total loss.
