Updated Rear Brake Pads?

I posted in the sticky thread, but I am going to the dealership tomorrow and wanted to know this before then... Is it true there is a new updated brake pad for the Rear's? If this is true that would mean that GM knows there's a problem, which would lead me to say they should warranty the damage to the rotors that was caused by the old, bad pads. Does anyone know the details on the new pads? Are they new part numbers or just new manufacturer/compound/etc?

That's why it's better to do this yourself, using different (ceramic in my case) pads and new rotors. At a minimum, you should confirm that they will use DIFFERENT PADS and resurface the rotors.

There are indeed new pads. However from what I'm told, they're NOT to be used on the track. I don't have the part numbers.

Its an internal PI from Technical assistance. Whoever is working on your car is going to have to call and get a case rolling for the brake issue.

Good luck getting them warrantied though. It depends on which dealer you go to as to whether or not it'll get covered.

I had same issue on my car @ 13k miles. I just spent the 160 on new pads and rotors and did them myself. Clean and lube the slides well .
Dealer told me it was a wear item and that driving habits likely attributed to it.
Which is debatable but 13k is the fastest i've ever seen any on pretty much any car i've ever seen.

Its 12 months or 12k miles for brakes warranty.

When the front brakes are still in nice condition and the rear ones are worn out its not really bad driving habit, unless you always run your car in reverse... lol

Okay so I'm sitting heere at the Dealership and the preliminary response is that the inner pad is worn to the metal and the outer pads are thick. I said something about the new pads and she didn't see anything about that. I have not brought up what malaclypse said yet. How the hell do my inner pads go to the metal while the outer pads are still at least 1/2" thick!?!?!?

Anyone help me while I'm still here at the dealership??????? Thanks!!!!!!

Because your slide pins were probably dried out and not lubed properly

This should be covered by warranty right? I've never seen a vehicle whose regular maintenance required lubrication of the slide pins?
