Urgent mechanic help needed

Hey guys,

I'm at work right now I have no tools nothing, on my way here I hit in a major pothole I didn't see at all in an area where there's not much light... The front driver's side seem to have hit the road right behind the bumper in front of the wheel however there's no noticeable esthetic damage beside a bar under the front bumper I'm not too sure what it is its about 3 inch wide and 1/2 inch tick and 3ft long right under the intercooler It seem to have broken on the side it hit the road I'm not sure if its a mount that old in in place or protect it...

Now I have NO turbo at all it refuse to spool completely the car overall performance right now ain't any better than a Toyota echo and when I press the throttle its cutting on and off like If I was pressing the throttle in and out.

There's no check engine or nothing that lite up no other things, not knocking or bad noise in the engine what the hell can it be???

If you didn't crack the end tanks it will be a easy fix most people rip it off before it happens.. haha

I just went outside and took a closer look at it with a better flashlight, the condenser pipe itself looks fine its not even crushed a bit or kinked or nothing only the supporting plastic bracket/support that broke off and the condenser pipe end is loose. I checked for the other end and it looks fine too.

Well if i f***** the intercooler I'll just order the ZZP one, I won't bother with the stock one I'll try to patch it for now and kept a light foot until the new one gets here... Looks like I'll do a bit of overtime lol

No problem.. this happens a lot and you might get lucky and just have to plug the condenser hole once you take it off.

I freaked out at first, I noticed no turbo anymore and the cutting I pulled on the side of the road but I my flashlight batteries are barely dead I couldn't even distinguish it was an actual pipe/tube and not just some kind of of bracket or protective plate or something. I hauled here and posted, on second look yeah I can see where its connecting and the plastic bracket is broken off completely so I'll just take it off until I order the ZZP one.

After you plug the holes and if its not boosting you probably broke the end tank.. But you should be able to patch it and limp it around till you get a IC.

Yeah I know... it might be a good thing after all I couldn't make my mind if I wanted to order a better IC yet or later cuz I was thinking of saving for the ZZP turbo kit with the s252 and the whole shebang cuz the IC comes along with it... but its not big deal I'm sure ZZP will make me a price without the IC included or worst case scenario I'll just put on the new one and sell the old one for peanuts. lol

Yeah I just went out and checked it again I had used a mat so I could get under there without getting too dirty and the end take is cracked, however the way its broken it SHOULD be easy to patch.

I've had my catch tray off for 3 months without plugging any holes and I have no issues. Is the jb weld necessary?

Probably looks something like this (or worse)

When I did that to mine, there were no aftermarket intercoolers available. Cost me $600 to replace through Chevy. One month later Hahn came out with his intercooler.

Uh yeah. One of them is a hole into the intercooler. You have a boost leak.

I don't though.

I still boost to the same levels, no strange noises, no cels, and nothing strange on my logs....

Does the bolt hole go all the way into the pressure or is it a blind hole?

The bottom tray drains moisture out of the IC, so it's plumbed into it on one side. If you broke off the tray, you prolly cracked the part of the end tank that connects into the IC through the hole. Thus, you have a huge boost leak. You can temporarily plug it up, but you'll need to replace the IC. There are used ones for sale here..for around $100, if you don't want to install an aftermarket one without the tray. You can also remove the tray and plug the hole on the replacement stock IC (recommended).
