VIN Decoding?

Does anyone have a VIN decoder for the Cobalts? I am curious about the engine codes and if they changed them for MY09.

N/M, found a good thread:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...light=decoding

The main difference is that the "P" in our Cobalt isn't a Camaro Sport Coupe, and the body styles aren't listed. Engine code for SS/TC should be "X"

Maven, interesting regarding the check digit. My 2009 has a "X" as the check digit. Is this an early 2010? I noticed it being odd since there was a X following the engine code (XX).

My bad.....I edited the post. The check digit isnt alpha only for 2010 and newer, the restraint or 7th digit is....I was just on the wrong side of the engine code, LOL.

1980-2009 the 7th position which represents the body style in 1980s cars and restraint type in later cars will always be numeric, in 2010-up cars it will always be alphabetic, this is so you can tell apart an early 10th digit alpha car(1980-2000) from a late alpha car(2010-)

I would like to know if the serial number is sequential. I have tried every avenue that I can think of to determine the number of 08 SS's produced with no luck... perhaps the serial number could provide some insight?
