3rd gear is easier on the stock clutch when tuned. 4th might slip and draw fruit-loops.

^^ as seen by my dyno's, 4th gear draws circles due to slip. lol

4th is the closest 1:1 though on our cars.

the difference between 3rd gear pulls and 4th gear pulls are like 5 hp at the very most ..

4th is like .03 closer to 1:1 then 3rd gear.. sooo yea

ummmm

Third Gear Ratio (:1) 1.18
Fourth Gear Ratio (:1) 0.89

.07 but still. 4th is more OD than 3rd. ALL dyno runs I've done have been 4th.

specs are different for SC set ups. this is in the LNF section fellas.

i was guesstimating lol i didn't have the data sheet in front of me

generally going with the most middle gear is the " best" usually it's closest to 1:1 (not in his situation) and engine load is it's the highest so it's easier on the engine.. I've done dynos in 3rd and 4th and in 3rd i made 2 hp more (different tranny obviously) but now i wont dyno in 4th because theres really not a point for me

Yeah nice numbers bro. I dyno'd 295/319 on my old safe HPT tune. Im dying to dyno my Trifecta tune now, which is still pretty safe so it should be about the same. Some mods coming so Im waiting for that before I dyno

That printout is from a dynocom. Which everyone on here seems to think always reads higher than a dynojet. I have tuned cars on both dynojets and dynocoms with similar results. Dynocoms are like mustang dynos, they have to be calibrated properly to read accurately.

**** the gear ratio. be nice to the dyno. if you were a dyno, would you rather slow a car three times from 105-107 or three times from 140+??? besides. dyno's are inconsistent, tracks aren't

I took my dyno numbers down because I am tired of arguing about them even though I dynoed my car bone stock on the same dyno. Stock on that dynocom I used it made 253 whp 247 wrtq STD. corrected (242 whp 237 wrtq SAE corrected). Same as most on dynojets make.

Another dynocom car making more then the norm running the same tune. Coincidence? I think not lol.

I havent personally compared the 2 dyno's yet but Im working on getting to a Dynocom to see how much different it is.

That sure isn't reading like any mustang dyno I've seen.

317whp 366wtrq = dynojet

284whp 325trq = mustang dyno with MORE mods

Seems about right. I tuned one with just a DP and Intake and he made 314 whp 357 wrtq at 21 psi in 4th gear with the clutch slipping pretty badly. We never did do a 3rd gear pull but I suspect it would have made 4-5 whp more but maybe not.

I have compared them but not with my own car.

Mustang dynos are the same way, they have to be calibrated. I have seen a bone stock LNF Cobalt make about 260 whp on a mustang dyno. I have seen as low as 215 whp stock on a mustang dyno. That is very inconsistant. I have used two different dynocoms and one dyno jet and as long as the same correction factors are used the three dynos are within 3-4 whp of each other.

the 2 highest HP tuned LNF's are both dynocom dynos.

I don't think this is coincidence.

Hell, even the one guy who dyno'd said that he felt it was liberal on it's readings.

242 whp 237wrtq SAE stock, 345 whp 375wrtq SAE fully bolted and tuned. 253 whp 247 wtrq STD stock 363 whp 393 wrtq STD fully bolted and tuned. Most dynojets of stock TC cobalt are 240-250 whp and 250-260 wtrq. The highest stock dyno number I have ever seen was made by agent007kimball at 256 whp on a mustang dyno. Mkribs made on approx 215 whp stock on a different mustang dyno. That is inconsistant if you ask me.

TO me, numbers are numbers. Track times and trap is what I care about.

mkriebs trapped 110 with 245whp from tune only.

I have cars that have supposedly 30+whp on me (cobalts), yet I'm trapping higher than them. Go figure

The 2 dyno's I've been to have been within +/- 1whp and 3wtq.

Seeing that your base dyno numbers of 253whp are 10% higher than my base numbers (230whp), can I subtract 10% from your dyno numbers and come up with a realistic number of 327whp to compare against?

just throwin it out there

Those changes due to correction factors are VERY liberal. Ross' TVS car we dyno'd and checked all 3 corrections, ALL 3 were within 7whp TOTAL of each other.. 296 SAE, 299 STD and 303 UNCORR. And Ive seen my own SS do the same on a dynojet. Not 10+whp between each..
