This Is What I Found Out Last Night

I have not built any turbos since DEC. When i go to work this afternoon i will ask the plant supervisor if the are only doing special orders. We ride motorcycles hes a good dude. Also the loading dock for the motors is near me and i have not seen any turbo motor blocks unloaded since DEC. They usually stock pile the blocks prior to us building them because we do about 400 per shift. They might be saving money on parts. The turbo blocks are a special order for us. They might be waiting to get a large SS order in. So if you ordered a SS dont hold your breath to get it on time. I will post the info tonight when i get home around 1am.

Also talked to union rep last night. The Cruze is still on track and GM told them the Cruze is a major priority to turn the company around. They now have the ability to build 6 different models from this platform in our plant. Which i am guessing SS coupes and sedans even might be a convertible in the mix.

That sucks, hope you have been there since 1994, even still it sucks for everyone that has lost or is losing there job. GM Needs alot of money!

Don't worry i'm part of the solution, I have placed my order on a TC, 2 weeks ago :P

Now hurry up and build it

Building cars isnt going to help GM. The biggest help for GM needs to happen in reduction of lines, and getting its cost per employee in line, instead floating more people on its insurance system that are paying into it. Looking at GM is what is going to eventually happen to Social Security.

If that's the case if I don't get a build date by the first week of March I'm pulling my order, and will probably buy a foreign car out of spite. The only reason I wanted this Chevy is because it has the SS nameplate and I could get it in white to match my other white SS. But my current car has 92K and I want to get rid of it soon, before I have to start replacing stuff. Meaning if I can't get a white one with the options I want, a N/A will be a lot cheaper in all ways(gas, oil, insurance etc.), sure not as fun but it's a daily driver. I already have a car in the garage to play with.

Exactly, I'm calling my dealerback in march. If no updates, or if no progress has been made. I will be purchasing a foreign car also... Since no domestic cars appeal to me what so ever. "in a certain price range"

09 or 10 Civic Si....

Why wouldn't you just get one off the dealer lots? GM is desperate to see cars right now and you can get a great deal. If you ended up getting a Civic Si, you will just end up feeling ashamed that you got a performance compact without the performance...plus...it is foreign...

I was thinking a Cruze SS would have been my next top pick, but since that won't happen I will more than likely end up in a Genesis Coupe.

There is none here....

Very Few Dealers have any, and they all have highrise + sunroof...

No Thanks...

I could have gotten a great deal on an 08 ss black/black + fully loaded for 20k out the door

But for 5000 more, it's worth getting a brand new never been driven. Specd the way I like + the color I like. The Civic Si, is still a nice car. To be honest, I can't say it's foreign. Considering they are made in aliston, ontario. Cobalt is more foreign "Ohio"... at least with Civic, I will be helping out local economy...

If the Civic Si, wasn't soo slow stock I'd say ok, but hey dude you gotta do what you gotta do.

I like the Genesis Coupe, and I wouldn't mind looking into the 2.0T Genesis Coupe myself. But for around the same price you can get an SS/TC which would be a much better bang for your buck...

Just because it is assembled in Canada doesn't mean it is not foreign...take a look at where the parts come from...ALL IMPORTED!

Also...keep in mind that the performance division is going away as part of their viability plan...it will be back if they pull out of this mess and return to profitability. It is estimated that if they get the $16 billion more in loans and sales are on the high end of their estimates (which are still realistic) they could have the loans paid back by 2014 and things like the performance division could be considered again...

Stuff like this is REQUIRED just to get the government to give more loans...funny how they want an in-depth plan from the automakers to get a LOAN but the banks get FREE MONEY just for showing up...they are the ones that are a primary cause in this mess!

It's not super slow, it's got amazing gear ratios.. so that does compensate sp?... a bit..

I do like the genesis also, but $24,495 for the base model, not including anything.. taxes and such freight.. yadda yadda... $30,000....

I would rather by a used M3 :P

I got my cobalt for 25,000 All In... "if I get it!"

I won't buy used. Hence no SS/T. I won't be looking to buy for a couple more years, but well past the end run of new SS/T's. If I were buying today, the Cobalt SS/TC. But I'm not and was looking forward to see what they were doing with a performance version of the Cruze. So it's looking like either a Euro Focus if/when they come over or a Genesis coupe (the one they had at the auto show here was stickered at $28k for the 306hp coupe.....300+hp, and RWD for under $30k? Hell yes!).

What is wrong with the black/black 08? Was it used? I drive a black/black fully loaded 08 w/high rise and I enjoy it. It's a fun car. Just wondering what you don't like about it. Just personal preference?

I realize all of this, but I doubt GMPD will be back before I need another car. Definitely will be buying before 2014.

I don't agree that they should have gotten a bailout at all, but that's just IMO. Besides all of this bankruptcy/bailout/bullshit has made me seriously consider my buying priorities. Performance division or not, I will not likely be looking to the Big 3 for my next car.

I'm intrigued by this car...however, I'm not sure what they were thinking taking out things like cruise control, bluetooth, etc just to save weight on their performance model...you have to trade technology for Brembos and bigger wheels?

Also, I'm not sold on the appearance...it just looks so droopy to me...like the front is saggy...

One more thing...how is this called the Genesis Couple...there is no way it shares a single component or styling cue with the Genesis Sedan!

If you situation doesn't allow it, I can't argue with it...just wanted to let everyone know that it won't be gone forever...

It's the performance model. It shouldn't have those things, and actually the fact that Hyundai is willing to offer up a TRUE performance model inside and out is what makes me more interested in it. That's one of my biggest peeves with the SS/SC/TC.....why am I forced to take the upgraded sound system, power locks, power windows, and rendonkulously oversized rims (they don't need to fit over brakes...)??????
