What is everynoes average EGTs while
A. Highway driving
B. Idling
C. After a drag

Also i dont want numbers ppl get from there calculated EGT off a scanner. I got a autometer pyrometer and these are mine... Also note im running meth. I just never paid attention to the normal EGTs before i mod'd and before i got the pyrometer and want to know if im in the proper ball park

A. 800 F
B. 400 F
C. 1200 F that max ive seen so far.

Well a EGT is only as good as the placement of the probe.

Where you reading it off of.

 

I have the MPx catless downpipe that came with the EGT bung so thats where my placement is which is right behind the 02 housing flange.

 

Egt's should be installed in the exhaust manifold only 2-3 inches from the head, not in the downpipe.
If you would of installed it in the exhaust manifold you'd be seeing 16-1700F temps at wot.

 

Hes right that is the most accurate place to measure them at.

The reason people put it in the down pipe is the heat doesn't destroy the sensors as fast, but its no where as accurate as in the manifold.
