When to change brembo rotors

I have never owned a car with brembos let alone seen then up close (other then on brand new cars dealer cars) so bare with me please. Just curious as to when it's a good idea to get new rotors for the front brakes. I noticed a small lip on the very edge as I ran my finger from the point of contact area to the outside of the rotor. The rotors do have some typical grooves but also a mark that is shaped like the outside edge of the brake pad.

Why would a reputable shop not turn rotors? I use to hear that all the time, but Ive been working at Toyota for about 6 months and we turn rotors all day.

Why cheap out on stopping power in a performance car?

Don't waste your time turning rotors. If you bought a performance car and can't afford these rotors then you are broke as hell. Replace the damn rotors when the pads go.

How much does a place charge to turn a rotor? 10-15? Damn rotor is only $40

rockauto.com usually has good pricing. NAPA has pretty decent rotor and pad pricing too.

One set of pads will take the rotors right to or beyond minimum recommended thickness from my experience

Ive done it on other vehicles for sure but the semi metalic pads just eat these rotors up quick

Ive turned rotors and its fine. I did it because they got uneven and my steering wheel would shake. I turned them and no more shake you just have to be in specs and its fine to turn them. But for 40 thats not bad lol. I turned them because i did it so it was free

I did it myself use an onboard cutter so nothing.
but your probably right about the price and for 40 i would just buy new ones if they need to be replaced of they still have enough thickness i would turn them
