Missed it the first time, so, next off topic/insulting post after I hit "reply" right now gets an infraction.

I think someone has new rims on his ss/tc that cleared the brakes...I'll try to find pictures of them, I don't know what kind they are, they're either gunmetal or black. Upload those pics in your gallery[ufnwish]!

HB_SS/TC 09-23-2008 02:05 PM

He cleared the brakes but with the use of spacers

Rissa 09-23-2008 02:08 PM

Oh snap, still can you find the pictures of it?

All we need now is the offset

Nismothecat 09-23-2008 03:53 PM

alot of 240 guys have this problem when running 300zx brakes. they usually have to find a wheel that has spokes that flare out, not wheels that have a flat face. not sure if this helps but it seems to be a close enough situation.

krispy 09-23-2008 04:07 PM

1/3" spacer is pretty large, but I don't think we will be getting away with running pretty much any wheels w/o spacers

Offset: 55mm
Backspacing: 6.53"
Bolt Pattern: 5-110
Rec. Tire Size: 245/45-18
Weight: 18.4lbs

Got the info from tirerack, the wheels are for the Solstice/Sky

steddy2112 09-23-2008 04:14 PM

I was told by TireRack that they had an SS/TC in for fitment and not a single wheel they stock fit on the car...buy at your own risk...

steddy2112 09-23-2008 04:19 PM

Spacers

HB_SS/TC 09-23-2008 04:23 PM

That's why in the next couple weeks I'll be getting wheels from http://www.dtmkreuz.com/.

BlueSS-supercharged 09-23-2008 07:47 PM

^^^ wow your gona pay about 1000 per wheel? have fun with that

HatedCobalt 09-23-2008 09:49 PM

got a call in to my wheel reps today. they are doing some diging for me to find some wheels to use w/o spacers. spacers work but in some states they are illegal.

I agree. I researched this all day today and found no wheel that would work. Offset and backspace are measurements that affect the way the wheel sits in relation to the car. (inboard/ outboard). It has nothing to do with clearing the Brembo calipers. You need an actual drawing/ print to show the cross section and the wheel's dimensions to see where the spokes are in relation to the mounting surface of the rotor.

Offset shows where the mounting surface is relative to the centerline of the wheel.

Backspace shows where the mounting surface is relative to the outside lip of the wheel.

It all depends on the design of the wheel. Those SSR wheels in the pictures have spaces. You can run spacers, but you need to make sure you have enough thread left on studs to install the lug nuts. This is where offset will come into play. You may end up pushing the wheel out to far and affecting suspension geometry and fitment within the wheel well. Also, you could find a wheel manufacturer or model that fits - say the Subaru STI, Porsche, etc. and see if you can get the same wheel to match the GM bolt pattern. This may prove difficult if not impossible.

I agree buy at your own risk.

Subaru bolt pattern is different from ours.
