Hey guys i actually work at a dealer in Canada and it is not a problem with the turbo for some reason when these cars are built at the factory they have to outsource something and send the vehicle to another shop then bring them back to the plant and finish there testing. Also there could be shipping problems with the companies but i know i have another salesman waiting for his and it was supposed to be here on the 15th of June so this is happening everywhere

This is the worst purchasing experience I have ever had. Too bad too, because I really wanted the SS. I could have chosen other cars like most people, but the SS is what I wanted.

it's more of the principle of the thing now. I could have bought from other local dealers who actually had these in stock. Since I already had signed the loan paperwork, it was too late. The line of lies the dealer fed me was incredible. they didn't know what was going on until 2 weeks ago. For 4 weeks they thought it was "on the truck" or so they told me.

Am I really going to do anything? Probably not, I have already signed the Purchase and Sale and the car is registered to me, so I don't have many options.

Oh well, life goes on. My goal right now is to have GM or the dealer give me some kind of compensation for waiting 7 weeks and the "pain and suffering" knowing that they have a car I want on their lot but I can't have it

call GM directly and bitch every day. When my wheels started peeling I did that and they ended up giving me a 2 year GMPP service plan for free and fixed my wheels with a lifetime warranty from transwheel...Be persistent and don't take no for an answer!

I have actually talked with Gm 4 times, each time they said "this is a sales issue, there is nothing we can do". I will continue to try though. Thanks for the advice.

One other thing I would like to add to the story: Like I said, the salesman told me the car would be in on Friday. I believe it was the other car that came in instead and he has ignored me (the entire dealership) since then. I called up and asked some random salesmen if they had any SS's and he was like "yes, we just got on in last week - Thursday". Opps, I called my salesperson and left a message asking WTF is going on. No responses from anyone there

If the woman or man you talk to at GM won't help you ask for their supervisor and continue to do that until you get results. You could also ask for the regional sales director where your located at...

I did speak to a supervisor after I left some very scolding voice mails to the GM contact I had been interacting with. I have tried to be nice, but now it's time to not be nice.

Mine came in yesterday.
I have ignored the salesperson since, just giving them a taste of their own medicine. I will pick it up eventually but maybe they can sweat a little (although I seriously doubt they give a F*CK).

Umm, you already bought the car didn't you? If so, they already made the sale and got their money, they arn't going to be sweating anything.

I'm glad I bought my car when I did, I'd probably still be waiting for the one I put a deposit down on.

Even though I want the RPD and USB radio...I am just sick of hearing about this crap. I don't want to deal with it. I think I may just walk in and buy an 08. Install the above toys after the fact.

GM is not on strike

the only thing that I can think of is there is a problem with the car that occurred when being built and is in-line to be fixed this could be a huge problem that has happened with many of them and they are trying to fix it. I dont work at lordstown so I dont know the deal I work with someone whos G/F works down there and Ill see if i can find something out for you tonight at work

called Gm customer service again yesterday, all they could (or would) tell me is that its still on the truck, but its enroute, but they dont know where, how is it I can track a 10 dollar package through UPS everytime Big Brown stops at a red light, (a lil exagerated i think, lol) but GM wont track a 23000 Dollar Car for me.

yeah.. i did buy the car already and i know they don't give a crap, but when i signed the loan paperwork they forgot to have me sign a few documents. I have to sign them in order for the car to be mine. When the finance guy called me 5 weeks ago about it I was like "Can't i sign them when the car comes in this week (look where that got me)?

I also need to cool down a little. If I walk in the dealership right now, I will turn the car sideways and shove it up the general managers ass, so it might be better for me to cool off for a day or 10.

Might or might not be relevant, but I work for a car rental company, and we just got a new recall info on a bunch of cars, and the 08 SS is on there. Something with the oil pan. No we dont carrry the ss cobalts, but the just send out a list of cars and applicable vins.

Hope you get your cars soon though.

i bought my 07 s/c ss last year and became good friends with all the sales guys there along with the techs of the night crew.

i have a buddy that's looking to by the 08 cobalt ls or lt and the salesman i bought my car from stated that for a while the manufacturer who makes the axels were on strike for a couple weeks and that's what the delay was in all of the cobalt models.

i do know they had received two 08 t/c ss and some entry level balts over the past week so i don't know what the reasoning would still be but i do know that caused about a 3 week delay in the production of all 08 cobalts.

and that came directly from the source. somewhere in gm those who work at or work with the assembly plant for assembly or producing the parts were on strike for a long while

The only thing I would worry about is the dealer letting someone test drive the car prior to you picking it up. That happened to a guy in my area and the guy that test drove the car ended up taking out the car's intercooler...it took additional time to get the car fixed...
