will any of these void my warranty?

aftermarket...

intake
exhaust
IC pipes
IC

i am 100% sure it doesnt. i have tried to convince my dad it does not. he will not beleive me... i told him the only reason why warranty would not cover my car, is if i took it in for a boost leak, or exhaust leak, than they can blame it on the aftermarket parts... but it wont void the warranty. he wants to see other people say the same thing i am saying.... idk why he doesnt trust me....

If they cause a problem the warranty will be voided for that part not the entire car or for unrelated problems.

Good mods according to GM K&N drop ins, exhaust must have stock CAT, and i think thats it. oh if you get a ZZP intake tube they will never know the differance

Most of the aftermarket stuff can void your warranty if the dealership feels like an *******

Bolt ons will only void the warranty of that part of the car. However anything that changes how much boost your car produces (aside from GMS1) will void the whole motor warranty I believe (IE: Bigger turbo / aftermarket tune).

Yeah, I think they can dig up that you had a tune even if you swap back to the stock one, but they have to send away your chip to do that, so it isn't likely that they'll do that at all unless you blow your motor or something.

Tech II (the scanner that the service guy uses) cant pick it up but it they send the ECM off to GM if you blow a motor then they will be able to see how many times it has been flashed which = insto warranty void
in other words if youre not ready to pay for any problems out of pocket dont mod its not worth the risk

Not really. They may be ignorant and not do the work, but just call GM and complain.

Unless the part actually lead to the issue, then it's not void.

There's a big trace... They can turn the tune on themselves while test driving the car...

Chances are though, unless they are testing you for a boost leak they aren't gonna floor your car haha.

its a cobalt SS. im pretty sure anything that goes do the dealership with SS, GT, SRT, AMG, ///M, etc... badge on it, gets floored.

boost leak or no boost leak. my friend changes oil at a dealership, and he tests drives nice cars that roll in all the time, sky with LNF, srt8 jeep, gtos, etc....

this.

seriously it all comes down to the servicing dealer;
moreover the service manager.

if they want to be cool, they can, but I hear more often than not, that they're not interested in being cool ~ which is probably why your dad is playing the role of 'the doubting Thomas'.

It should say... While they may try, the dealership can not override the law. They can NOT, I repeat, NOT void your warranty if you have an aftermarket part. They can void the warranty on the part itself but if you change your exhaust and your lash adjusters go bad, there is no way in hell they would have the grounds to void your warranty.

Now... They sure as hell will TRY (at least the jerk ones do). Just like unlawful debt collection situations, some people fall for it and don't know their rights. If that ever comes up, call GM like stated above and complain. I might try another dealership after that though b/c it would be like complaining a restaurant, don't want a loogie in your food...

If you're worried about your warranty, don't modify anything.

Use OEM parts or GM Performance Division certified upgrade parts.

And to whoever said that the ZZP intake tube is confusable with the stock intake tube... Seriously? We're not blind. That's a HUGE difference.

^^^kinda....my understanding is that the e69 ecu doesn't have a flash counter but yes if they dig they can find it.

^^^^and the thing about all this is that gm is a billion dollar company and id venture to say that most of us don't have deeeeeeeeeeeeppp pockets....after all we own a cobalt ( or hhr) the dealership can do what they want and whether they are right or wrong would have to be determined by another party. once they mark you as being modded and as a warranty void...you won't get work done at any dealership until/if it gets reversed by gm. then say you have an issue and gm denies warranty claim and you have to fight it....you are possibly out your car for an indefinite period of time, you are out all the time and effort it would take to get the warranty void reversed. best thing to do is take all modifications off when you go to the dealer if you have mods or are going to mod

Just keep your stock parts and if you have to go to the dealer for an issue that they might try to put on the aftermarket part, put the stock parts back on. They most likely wont say anything about the parts if you go in for something like a broken sunoff or whatever.
