All Seasons would be cool because they'll last longer when there's no snow on the ground and Colorado is a state where it snows one day and will be sunny the next. So that's why I'm hesitant to get snow, but I hear all seasons still suck.

The tires I've been looking at from tirerack.com are Ultra High Performance All Season, so I don't know if that means, they're performance tires or they're really good in all seasons.

You already have a set of summers so you might as well get winters and just put them on as late as you can if you are worrying about them wearing fast.
Think how you feel if you have an accident in snow later that you could have prevented if you had bought the winters. The extra year the all seasons would have lasted you won't look so important then.

 

If you already have summer tires, get seperate winter tires and swap them out. They're well worth it in the snow. All season's dont even compare.

 

any winter tire is better in the snow than the most of the really good all seasons... dont risk it and just get winter tires

 

Except for the fact that winter tires have much longer braking distances on dry pavement. If you live in an area that has good snow removal...get all seasons.

If you're in the boondocks and the roads will be covered for long periods of time without removal...get snows.

I have all seasons...this will be year three on them. I've never gotten stuck and I've gone through some ridiculous stuff...

 

We have excellent snow removal here for main roads, side roads and less popular streets not so much and like I stated above, we get snow one day and sun the next. Only side streets are effected by 1“ during the snow. Blizzard conditions are just bad though, but limited.

 

Trust me on this get winter tires, all seasons just don't grip nearly as well in ice/snow/slush as dedicated winter tires do especially since our tires need such a low profile tire.

I have the Falken Eurowinter in the stock size and it was a relatively inexpensive tire and it does ok in our Canadian Winters.

 

Enough said. Winters.

 

pirelli snowsport, its a snow and performance tire, no snow u still have a high speed rating (givin not as high as a summer but they r winter tires after all) still higher than most, and blizzards u can plow through the snow no prob. amazing tires, my thirs winter using them

 

Bridgestone Blizzaks all day, i live in CO as well and when i'm passing 4x4 i know it was worth the money, best part about blizzaks is after they are 50% worn they are considered an all season tire because the rubber gets stiffer towards the base, i know a few people that only buy blizzaks and after the 50% they run them during the summer and buy new ones for the winter

 

even if dry breaking distance suffers a little it will still be good. better than how much your ice snow breaking distance will suffer with all seasons...

So my question is, if I wanted to get winters high performance or what ever, can I wear them all year?

 

My understanding is that winter tires are softer and will wear a lot faster in warm/dry conditions, so yes you could go all year but you might only get 1 year out of them and by next winter you will need new ones.

However I do not have personal experience on this subject

 

I live in quebec .. have kuhmo winters tires and after 1 winter of use they are stil in perfect shape ... you can still get performance winter tires, they aren't nearly as performant as summer tires, but they still are much better than real winter tires.

All-season tires as they call are now called 3 season tires here in quebec because the use of winter tires here is mandatory... If its a law, it must mean there is huge difference. In fact, a very large % of people that have accidents in the winter here have (had) all-season tires..

 

I think that is because you guys also get a LOT more snow than some places. If I was in Buffalo, NY...I'd prob have snows, but in SE MI...it isn't entirely necessary.

 

winter performance are noticably softer than all seasons(thats what i run) but dry traction does suffer. they will wear allot faster.

they are much better than all season in the winter though. and better if driving agressivly than regular winter tires as over all they are firmer than regular winter tires just a softer compound on the actual tread.

basically your 60 ft will suffer lol and it will cost you a fortune in the long run as you will burn through them like crazy if you run them in the summer.

 

No. Winter Tires, performance or not should not be used during summers they will wear as fast as a slick as the rubber is so soft. And don't think that because they are soft they will be grippy during summer because this is not the case.

True deep tread not stucky at all lol. they just bend under hard acceleration. vs stick with soft sport compounds.

 

winter will work better than all season in the winter..believe me i get zero traction in snow and im on goodyear eagle f1's

i find that u get what u pay for, cheap winter will chew up in the hot temps, a high performance winter tire has different polymers used so the tire stays softer in cold temps to provide better handling and traction, not to mention the special tread pattern. Now keep in mind that u could use these winters in summer but its not recommended as u will lose top end performance and handling, that why u would want to run summers in the summer, as they too have a different compound set up i n the rubber and are designed to work optimum in hot weather and rain.

 

I have Hankook iPike RC01s. They're pretty good. Decent in the snow and great on ice (less blocky, more for ice. really good)

 

Considering the temperature should consistently be below 45 while using winter tires, they should have shorter braking distance than all-season tires even on dry roads.

Okay, I'll try and get winter tires. Unfortunately I don't know of another site to buy tires besides tirerack.com or like local stores here (discount tire, firestone auto, walmart etc) Can you recommend some.

I can call and ask, but can you guys tell me how much it usually cost you guys to switch from summer to winter tires? Your comments and these two videos helped me out a lot
