This is actually EQAddicted's wife. He's probably going to cry when he sees these photos. They have it at a tow yard and the adjuster is looking at it right now. Fingers crossed, please guys!! Seriously, cross your ******* fingers! :P

The guys at the tow yard asked the adjuster not to total it. They love our little Balt.

Here are the pics I took today:

Is it really all that bad?

ETA: Sorry if I broke any CSS.net forum rules by posting under my husband's username. I didn't want to make a new username to post one thing. :/

Pics of wife? j/k j/k I kid.

Front end doesn't look too bad but the back is what will determine it. Looks like most of the body is crumpled behind the doors so it's a write off.

ummm, why wouldnt you want the car totaled? And how hard the rear end is hit, itll probaly get totaled. but that thing is it so hard, it might as well be salvage! And even after you get it fixed, it wont be the same, you will hear rattles etc. trust me, i know, i drive a salvagebalt that was hit hard. You want it totaled, then just tell the inserence you need more money cause it has a fresh rebuild etc.

He just put about 7K in motor and turbo and clutch on the car. I just tuned it for him a couple weeks ago. Sucks big time. I would want the motor and turbo back for sure.

all he has to do , is say he needs an extra 7k on top of the car is worth, cause he put mods into it. if the incerence says no, then all he has to say, is find me the same car, same miles, same build, same everything, when the company cant find one, the'll give him the money. but that car is better off totaled, cause its just hit to hard. and ya it does suck.

Usually they do not cover aftermarket mods unless stated in the policy. He may have coverage though not sure.

Pretty sure the insurance company is only responsible for paying/repairing the car back to stock unless your policy was written up to include mods.

oh. that might explain why ive seen cars in the salvage actions (srt4s, cobalts etc) with like parts missing off the car like turbos, intakes, exhaust's lol.

Assuming they wont cover his mods I'd want the car back to part it out and hopefully get some of the money back.

They will only cover your mods if you call the insurance company and tell them what mods you have. and then they will be insured, but your insurance payment will definitely go up. This is why nobody does it.

ya, if they do total it, i wonder how much they will want to buy the car back? if they want like 3-4 grand, then buy it back, go get that cobalt that has a bad motor for 5 k, and have a clean title lnf for 9-10 k with his mods back lol

Sucks. The motor and trans are probably fine just the condensor and radiator and IC and charge pipes are probably bent.

well from what it sounds like they arnt willing to sell the car back the car. But it sounds like the lawyers can sue, our insurance, who will sue there insurance for the parts and some very confusing american system runaround but we may be able to get reimbursed for it all. Term is there any way i can get you to write me a reciept for the tune?

Wifey edit time! :P I really should make a new username...
Any way... From what I understood from our insurance is that since we are not at fault our extra parts can go under personal property which the at-fault driver's insurance HAS to cover. However, since the guy had shitty insurance, the likelihood of us getting the full 7k is small. However, we really won't know anything for sure until we talk to the lawyer. :/ Eeeeek! We didn't even take it to our local 1/8th track.
And no wifey pics. xD I'm too shy.

Why does it always seem like having crappy insurance benefits those who have it?

Mercia!

That sucks. Sue till you get what's rightfully yours. I hate all the commercials about lawyers for accidents, but you do deserve what is taken from you.

In for part out?

But in all seriousness I hope you get this resolved. If it really comes to it you'll have to sue the guy for what he has after his crappy insurance is out of money. What happened to my dad when some kid going 90 hit his car and couldn't even cover medical bills, unfortunately it was his parents that lost 100k but we didn't make anything only covered all the bills.

If all goes as planned I will get back my balt and grab the important stuff cams/turbo and ill get a new lnf. Motor in mine is for the most part all new.

Oilers, gaskets, rings, all new bolts, head, each with about 4000 miles on them. Only thing I didn't replace was the piston, rods, block and oilpan
