Wrote a review of my '09 Cobalt SS on a different forum
omg its sickening... I just want to grab their head and rub it in my engine bay and say "smell THAT? Thats the smell of defeat. fggt!"
They are all high school kids that are responding in there... yeah theres a few midlife crisis people in their as well... BUT only the stupid kids are chattin.
So much denial in their its not funny. They ask for proof of a cobalt keeping up with or beating faster cars... I show them the 20 or 30 videos that Venom made with his mild tuned SS and some fast ******* cars... They turn around and say, there's no proof there just a bunch of bad drivers with fast cars... jesus christ, they all need to turn homeless.

An S2k is nothing to turn your nose up at on a road course. On a non-horsepower course, there's a good chance a well driven S2k will be faster than an equivalently driven CSS. The Ring is definitely a horsepower course.
I dont believe the Mosport course in Canada is considered a horsepower track. Im sure you've seen Venom's videos. He's keeping up with cars completely out of his league. Dodge Viper, Shelby 750, v8 M3's, Supra single turbo, turbo civic with a great head start...
LOL, most of the people on that site are snobs.... plain and simple. When the used s2k's started getting into the affordable range for "regular folk" ... they went apeshit about how it was a sad day and all
I use that place for info and that's about it, could care less about the community

It's a real road course too.
Cobalt bested the S2000.
Laguna Seca lap records - FastestLaps.com
true, but the rx-8 is right above it. and the mini cooper and miata are right below it. Exactly where I think I would see an S2000 sit.
followed by a civic Si and an NSX...wtf? NSX?
edit:... Just noticed the driver... no wonder.

Here's the Street of Willow Springs..a very tight road course.
Again Cobalt TC faired extremely well
Streets of Willow (0.96 mile) lap records - FastestLaps.com
Here's a Motor Trend Article testing at Willow:
Sport Compact Shootout - 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - Comparison test - Motor Trend
You might not think that says much, but chew on this: At the track, the Cobalt was the quickest, lapping 0.4-second ahead of the next-closest WRX and over three seconds faster than the Civic Si; even with a relatively small 2.0-liter turbo, the Cobalt handed over the shortest 45-65 mph passing time (2.4 seconds); on the skidpad, it posted the highest lateral acceleration (0.91 g) and through the figure-eight test, it knocked out the best time (25.4 seconds at 0.68 g), nearly a second ahead of the WRX and almost two ticks in front of the Caliber SRT4. And the Cobalt SS holds the lap record for front-drive compact cars at the Nurburgring as well as nearly beating the Mitsu Evo MR around Laguna Seca in our October 2008 handling test. There are no doubts about it: The Cobalt SS is the real deal.
"Wow, is this a great little track car!" exclaims Markus. "Really came into its own at Willow, where the front-end bite (thanks to the limited-slip), engine power, strong Brembo front brakes, and supportive seats made hurling the SS through the bends a treat," notes St. Antoine. Further, the SS's novel no-lift shift feature is not only cool, but it downright works, and the StabiliTrak's competition mode is as unobtrusive as a vacationing child-left-behind parent.Okay, so it's a sweetheart on the track, but is it as lovable in the real world? "Pretty docile piece when the adrenaline's off," notes Markus, who adds, "Freeway ride is supple and tire noise modest." "You could happily drive the SS on a long commute," says St. Antoine. And speaking of long commutes, the Cobalt's 2.0-liter achieves 30 mpg on the highway and recommends premium fuel but doesn't require it as do the others...

don't get me wrong, I'm not hating.... I loved my SCSS
and after getting my s2k, a buddy with his SCSS and I horsed around and from a roll he always managed to get 1/2 to 3/4 car length jump on me and keep it, so I know the TC would rape me.
but in comparing the two, not being boosted it holds it's own... I thoroughly enjoy having a convertible and it looks great. Only real drawback is every kind of mod is super $$$$, I'll have to finish paying it off before I can really do anything power-wise
I think it shines more in the auto-x vs. any other type of racing. Considering how far engine technology has come, you'd think they'd have made improvements over the years, but not really, just minor tweaks to the same powerplant... so as far as performance it got surpassed quickly.

Wow that forum just re confirmed my belief that most S2K owners are douches
The biggest rebuttal is "but the Honda has better fit & finish" lol! That's right fanbois, drive your "fit & finish" to last place around the track or strip! You're not winnin **** so you might as well be comfortable doing it! The Cobalt is an econobox built to be a rental car lol but it is what it is, well over 300whp and 350 wtq. I really want to see Honda match those gains for $250~ with a tune
This is the most memorable quote from your "buddy" "Disgustipated" What an ass clown
"Please. The Cobalt loses to the Si in every way other than straightline speed and handling. An Si looks 10x better, has a much nicer interior, much more comfortable, and that K engine makes serious horsepower all-motor." <=== Are there any other performance categories??? Oh that's right the fastest fit & finish category lol!
Runner up goes to "IAmTheRealAsif"
"I know certain tracks are faster but it still doesn't make sense. A cobalt should not be out performing an evo/sti cayman s 335i ect. It just doesn't make sense."

These cars (stock vs. stock) are in 2 totally different categories of car. If I was shopping for a cool looking roadster I would not be at a GM dealer looking at a cobalt and vice versa. I love the way S2K's look, unfortunately I just don't like the majority of asshats behind the wheel and whenever I see one around here I'll send him home with a "wtf just happened" look on his face
No, it's not. The course that Venom drives is a handling course.
