A buddy of mine has a TC with exhaust,intake,hard pipes (forgot which pipe it is,it goes over the top of the motor) a tune and the intake mani ported,he has an after market clutch but I dont remember which clutch he has. But long story short he had a shop put the clutch in then 2 weeks later as he was making his first pass down the track he blew out 3rd gear BUT after he got his car back from this shop that put the new clutch in,he couldn't get it into 1st gear he would have to put it in 2nd gear and then it would go into 1st gear. So he got his tranny replaced under warranty but it still won't go into 1st,he has to put it in 2nd and then into first.
Any thoughts?? I'm just tryin to help him out and so I figured people on here would be the best bet to atleast come up with some kind of answer.

I remember the owners manual mentions this. IF I REMEMBER it does say that going to 2nd and then 1st will work. Also if I remember, it has to do with the synchros.

So maybe he has bad synchros in the new tranny. I'd look but I don't have my car right now which my owners manual is in.

Sometimes I can't get into 1st gear (at all, or fully). Blipping the throttle fixes it for me.

 

Bleed the clutch again. It may be dragging a bit.

 

Your shifter might not be adjusted right. It should go in fairly easy

 

Yeah I was going to say this too. there have been a couple threads about guys having trouble getting into 1st or 5th and the adjustment they did to get it to work seemed pretty easy.

 

Ok thanks for the tips! I figured since a dealship put the new tranny in they would properly adjust it. But ill throw these ideas by my buddy and see what he wants to do from there.
