1st gear problem

I purchased a 09 ss the other week. It has a injen hot pipe & cai installed, zzp 3'' catless down pipe, and a trifecta 23psi selectable tune. While in the tune in first if you tag the limiter just one too many times. ( Noob at driving & spinning lol) It wont go past 3k and sounds like a subaru but works its way out in about 4 seconds. It doesnt throw any codes thou. The car was warmed up and it wasnt raining so it wasnt sucking any water. Im lost. The car was datalogged to fine tune the car from the previous owner.

Thanks

If u bounce off of the rev limiter it well bog the car down for a few seconds. Sounds normal to me. Just don't hit the rev limiter next time. Haha

The tach has some lag to it. Especially in first and second. If ur limiter is at 6200 then shift right at 5900-6000 to avoid hitting the limiter. If u shift to late and hit the red line the car will misfire a little when u hit the next gear. Most lnfs make Max HP by like 5600 rpms so need to try to get every last rpm out of it

Thanks for the help. It had me worried lol. I thought something went wrong. If this happens again is their any way it could harm the car?

I've had it happen a couple times. Just let off for a second or two and it will clear itself

Prob also your maf sensor needing cleaned. If mine does this I just clean the maf sensor cause any time it rains it will suck up even the least bit of water due to my horribly placed hahn cool ram intake and the oil on the k&n probably being sucked up with the water. After I clean the maf sensor though she's good as new and doesn't seem to do the missing in 1st. Good thing the turbo kits for our cars come with short rams cause I'm gonna need one.

Hmm. That could be it. Ever since I got the car it has been raining. The injen intake is about in the same spot as yours. Any certain way to clean the maf or just spray on the cleaner and wipe it off lol? I've never done this before. And do you only clean the one in the intake, or are there any more too?

Yea. Some good advice in here. I'll pop the clutch off the line once every blue moon n let it bounce in 1st gear... Max 3x. I love the misfire and chirp of the tires as it hits 2nd gear! I'd never ever let it redline too long though.

Don't wipe it off. Just spray on the cleaner and let it air dry.

Have to wait until tomorrow to get the cleaner. Was thinking could the spark plugs be causing it to do that? Any if some what kind of spark plugs would you recommend

Get factory AC Delcos. Those or the NGK iridiums run best in our cars. You can get the AC Delcos a lil cheaper.

It's not the plugs... it the ecu cutting you off to keep the motor in the GM approved safe zone. My car is tuned and will run up to 7k rpm... I never take it that far though cuz the turbo won't hold boost that high. I still shift mine at like 6k rpm unless I am trying to make it through the traps or something at the strip. Clean the MAF every time you clean the air filter and because its an oiled cotton gauze filter, make sure not to over oil it. You should be good. Honsetly, 1st gear blows... I get out of it as soon as I know the shift will put 2nd gear in a decent part of the torque range... If you race someone and can't catch them or pull them in 2nd or 3rd, you're done, those are the murder gears for this car... If you can be in second or third thats where you should be.

Another tip... since you have the select-a-tune on your car... start it off in 1st with the stock tune and right after you shift into 2nd turn that **** on the 23psi boost.
