2011 regal turbo vs 2008-10 cobalt turbo
I am finding the turbo off of the regal all over the place for cheap.
Is there any differences between that turbo versus the one on my stock 08 ss/tc?
Will it bolt right on as well?

It's probably that later Mitsubishi version.
Also as a side note, I've started seeing more and more electronically controlled BPVs appearing, like on the ATS, for instance.

reason i am asking is because my turbo its going on me and my car is my dd, so i need a cheap backup just in case mine goes out completely...i already have shaft play and my car seems to overboost as well, so its only in time that it will blow. 52k miles btw.
Anyways, i see these turbos brand new or nearly new for 300 or less, and our turbo is 300 severely used or 6-900 new..
just wandered if there were differences and if ours were better or worse?

of course i want to, but i cant afford 1900 + misc + 6-800 in labor charges. thats almost 3k just in the turbo, then i still need to install my clutch which is another $800 in labor, and then get my timing chain tensioner and valve springs which is another $300 + $300 install.
Oh, and 4 new tires = $ 800...
Moral of the story, it aint gonna damn happen unless i win the lotto or find a bag of cash....lol

Interesting
When i took my intake off, noticed a puddle of oil on the inlet side of the turbo, Plus the turbo had shaft play in it.
If the regal turbo is a direct bolt-on, i may just pick one up for safe keeping

A really tiny amount of shaft play is still reasonable, but how much are you talking?

the dealer wanted $1100 to install.
h3 automotive locally said $800 plus fluids and $600 for a turbo install(i may just do that myself because its not hard or too involved for one person)
gmpp clutch kit $275
zzp rotated mounts and stock flywheel $325
labor and fluids $900
= $1500 just for a clutch kit and install

On the bright side, at least it's not an Evo. I hear the Evo 10s take 11-13 hours to do.
