2nd Kicks out When You Push the Clutch..

Hello,
this is not a problem at all, but once in a blue while when the Gear is in 2nd and as soon as
i go and push the clutch the gear kicks out. Usually i have my hand on the shifter and i can feel the kick..

this doesnt bother me because it happens once/twice a week, just wondering if i should take care of it before it gets anyworse

No expert here so hopefully someone else will chyme in on this but it sounds to me like you have bad synchronizers in the tranny.

Have you had any tranny/clutch work done recently?

Throw out bearing is also a possible suspect, is there any grinding noises?

doubt that its a synchro, back in the day my 2.4L had a bad 3rd gear synchro and i remember how that felt..

i dont have any grinds what so ever. and tranny and clutch still stock at 68K
no slippage either =/

If you're mechanically inclined and have the place/time I recommend pulling apart the transmission. You'll most likely find the teeth on the problematic gear are worn or seem slightly twisted. These need to be replaced.

Typically this happens in 2nd from shifting from 1st too soon but this isn't the only cause. The amount of torque produced in these cars makes it pretty easy to ruin gears as well, especially in 1st and 2nd if your heavy footed.

If it really doesn't bother you just ignore it, you can try a transmission fluid additive that's suppose to aid in grip although the use of those products is debatable. Eventually though you'll find you probably will have to either hold the shifter in gear until you shift to the next gear or even that you can't shift into it at all anymore.

I once had a jeep do this, had to hold it in 2nd gear or it popped out. Eventually it stopped feeling like it even had a gear to go into, in the end we rebuilt the transmission and it was fine but the 2nd gear was almost smooth at that point. A new transmission is the money fixes all method, rebuild it if you can or just be easy on it and hope it lives long enough for you to move onto a new vehicle or until you can fix/have it fixed.
