44k 09' clutch question

I have a TC with 44k and stock clutch... but the hub springs are shot the clutch holds just you can hear the hub smack into the disk. Does anyone know if the warranty will cover this?

I highly doubt it but doesn't hurt to try. Worse they can do is say no.

Question I wonder on this one.

The clutch is a lining, like a brake , and therefore not covered beyond 12K , I believe, but wouldn't the pressure plate be a "hard part" that would be covered ?

Edit : From the GM Major Guard warranty site, which I assume would to some extent mimic the powertrain warranty - still confusing, but what it says is :

Unless required in connection with a covered part we will not pay for: engine tune-up, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubricants, engine coolant, drive belts, radiator hoses, heater and vacuum hoses, windshield wiper blades, air conditioning recharging, fluids, spark/glow plugs and wires, brake pads/linings and brake shoes/rotors, manual clutch disc, vehicle manufacturer recommended maintenance services and parts.

The tricks there would be getting them to agree that was the issue, and , in case they denied coverage, ponying up the dealer rates for a clutch job ....

I noticed some slip the other day in 5th, and some clutch smells off the line with 26K on the clock and ZERO track runs.

I am mentally steeling myself to pay if it does this anymore, but in the short run I am trying the shift at 3K trick hoping that it was merely glazed.

Ugh.

Good Luck !

Britt

clutch = wear item. doesn't matter what warranty u have, it would be like having brakes under warranty - not gonna happen

Good luck on getting your clutch to last. Its just going to get worse and worse.

I'm looking at the Clutchmasters FX300 (Stage 3). Should get it installed the third weekend of April.

To the OP: Since you just bought the car from them, argue that they should have fixed that when they were inspecting it. That's your only hope of getting them to replace your clutch at no cost to you.

i got my clutch warrantied at about 28k.

when i dropped her off she had full bolt ons, tune, mounts, 3" full straight pipe TBE.

they warrantied it because the pressure plate went bad, clutch still had 25% life in it.

its not the clutch lining... it holds like a champ. i am 100% stock. but maybe it has something to do with the pressure plate, i dont know but the hub rotates an awful lot without the flywheel turning.

Generally speaking the clutch doesn't have much of a warranty, especially at your mileage. I got mine warrantied at 28k miles but my tech was family so he knew who to talk to and what to say. What u do have going for you is that u just bought it. Maybe u can strike a deal with them to at least cover the work if u buy the parts
