450hp stock block

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a 2009 Cobalt that makes 450hp on stock block. Has 82k miles and it has different turbo. Opinions. On if it might blow soon or anything like that? Thanks

Blowing can be subjective, all depends on how it was treated/tuned. Should be okay at that power level on the block, but it could develop porosity or be tuned poorly and blow.

Your big worry with power like that is your trans. That is going to be your weak point. The block is capable of withstanding that much power for some time, but don't expect it to last forever. Basically its a ticking time bomb. How it's tuned and how hard you drive it determines how fast that clock counts down.

If you don't ramp the turbo in slow, and develop a big torque spike, as double clutch says-the trans will be your worry. The other thing to contend with is traction. 450hp is a lot to make stick on fwd.
