AEM Wideband Gauge
i brought the wideband gauge to match my aem boost gauge looks really good, i have my dashpod i'm goin to mount my aeroforce to as well, and their are other parts to waste money on.
oh i know. haha. but yeah zzp makes that a pillar with 2 slots + the rpd. so idk why but i think that'd be kinda cool, no other car would ever have that. (only cobalt ss/tc's)
Im not using it to tune my car, im using it for my own sake. Ive seen and heard to many ***** stories of cars running to lean at WOT but just being able to see it makes me feel better even though I know my tuner can see the afrs in the log. I also run a interceptor to watch my knock and IAT temps since the HHR has IAT problems with intakes. Im just using them tp help me learn and understand whats safe and normal...
Anyways, it's never a bad idea to run an in car wideband for monitoring purposes, particularly when tuned. The built in wideband can and has failed on cars in as short of a period as 10k miles after being tuned, so it's never really a bad idea to have a seperate wideband to monitor your a/f's.... assuming you know what you're looking for of course. Otherwise it's just a pretty little gauge that looks nifty on your A-pillar..
Please do tell about these ***** stories you have!

Ive been told it can melt pistons and cause ring and valve damage, and running rich will just torch the pistons. But in all honesty I have no clue. What are normal afrs for the LNF? mines around 11-12 at wot and 14.5-15.3 for cruising. My idle is screwed up im waiting for my retune from vince, just from 14-to where it dosnt read on the gauge, but it only does it on warm starts once and a while.
It really all depends on what he has you dialed in for, but I really hope you aren't anywhere in the 11's for your WOT afr. Generally speaking, he tends to usually run somewhere in the ballpark of 12.0-12.2afr at WOT, which is really a little on the rich side as far as DI engines go in most tuner's oppinions (including mine), but that's something that has been discussed about Trifecta tunes ad nauseam over the past few years so i won't get too deep into it. Even if you specifically ask him to lean things out a bit, he's very adamant on keeping it that way. You can always email him and find out exactly what a/f he has commanded for your car specifically just so you can know exactly what to expect to see on the Wideband at WOT.
Lol at me misspelling horror...shows whats on my mind.
In a perfect world it would stay exactly what it's commanded to be, but unfortunately it has a tendancy to move ever so slightly though. Like my tune for example is commanded for .88lambda (12.9afr) at WOT, but my logs will show a slight deviation from .87 (12.7) to .89 (13.0) relatively consistantly. The majority of the time it holds a .88 pretty solid, but sometimes it can move a tiny bit and it's honestly completely normal. If you start seeing big swings like .5+afr (aside from tip in at times) I would be very concerned at that point and may start looking at ordering up a new wideband sensor for the car.
