AF Ratio Signals
AF Ratio Signals
I am probably a newb at this so try not to flame too much....
I have a DashDAQ and I would like to monitor the AF ratio for my car. I should be able to do this without buying a specific gauge - simply by tapping into the generic OBDII sensor signals. However, it isn't like there is an "AFR signal input" sensor... What signal(s) do I need to tap into to monitor this parameter? I have the ability of tapping into multiple signals to create a parameter if needed... I just need to know what to do....
Btw... if anyone is interested, I just finished creating a SS skin with a full array of gauges. It is red/black theme and has integrated gauges as well. I will be happy to e-mail the .ddskin file to anyone that would like it...

In the generic obd2 list there should be a oxygen sensor s1 lambda wide pid, to turn that into an afr signal you need to use the rescale driver and multiply it by 14.7 to get your afr style readings.
Ok...got it input and rescaled.... one more question though... for each re-scale signal do you need to add it as a new device? It seems as though the rescale feature only works on one input at a time...

Sure thing... just remind me... I really love my DAQ... It will do everything and can integrate with pretty much all aftermarket diagnostic manufacturers. Programming is pretty straight forward (except for the scaling - that one took a few minutes with the manual)... the hardest thing is trying to figure out what signal is doing. The manufacturer isn't kidding about its ability to be customized...provided you have the time and inclination this unit can be tailored to do anything... It is basically a mini-computer for your car..
This is probably the best semi-performance upgrade you can invest in

where did u mount it? i wanna do it just under the rearview mirror, hope its not to much of a view blocker.
oh and little suggestion, if u want the suction cup to not come off and make it fall like i had trouble with the one for my ipod, a thin layer of clear sylicon works great, u can still get it off if u really want to and it cleans off the glass nice, but it does not come off unless u make it come off. lol and u dont see it so extra nice.
No problems with the suction cup. The mounting bracket on this unit has a lever to help lock the suction cup into place...With the lever in position I couldn't get the thing to budge - even while prying and pulling on it. It can be a view blocker. I have mine in the upper corner so that it is out of the way. The thing to keep in mind that you will also have to route the cable wherever you decide to place the unit. From what I can tell, the unit is only slightly bigger than the rpd, but due to the mounting system you are regulated to mounting it on the windshield. You can always velcro the unit to your dash... I haven't tried the media components yet. The unit comes with media player so I assume anything goes. I also didn't opt for the nav system. My hu has built in media and gps so there is no need
I will keep the silicone trick in mind...I have a passport 9500i that it a pain to try to stick to the windshield...

The DashDaq will read your OBDII lamba which is your a/f ratio... I will upload pics of unit in a min...
Ok... here you go... keep in mind that these pics were taken in low light...it is hard to get a good crisp image of any sort of computer screen in low lighting...

There are a couple more...but I think this will give you guys the overall view...

The torque is in your dyno calculator (along with horse power)....you will need to set you vehicle weight and input the proper sensors, but the unit will prompt you accordingly. The torque piggybacks off of the horsepower calculation...
On ordering...
Depends on if you currently have gps or not. I ordered my unit through tunertools.com (they have the lowest price). Since my hu already has gps I opted for just the plain dashDAQ unit. You do not have to get any extra add-ons... I do recommend getting the optional ac cable ($30 extra) but that is because you will probably want to work on programming your unit in the house.
I highly recommend getting this unit... It does so much more than the rpd and includes data logging... for what you get I actually think it extremely cost effective (dare I say cheap?)... you will see what I mean if you get one...
