Official Turbo Swap Thread
Anyone Looking to do the turbo swap on their car?
I am tired seeing the mutiple threads so maybe we can get some Vendors in here to post what they have to offer or whats in the works.
from what i hear, some turbo can bolt right up and u can tune from there? correct?

The 50 trim kit from Dejon seems like the most bang for your buck so far while still spooling relatively low. The kits from Dejon, Synapse and Hahn all require a new manifold (Synapse) or manifold adapter (Dejon) along with the turbo to bolt up to our engine. Also several other supporting mods necessary like new piping, water and oil lines, o2 housing, downpipe, etc.
Our turbo isn't the largest K04 turbo avail though is it? I'm pretty sure there are a few sizes bigger yet in the K04 line than the K04-025 we have and any of those should be a direct replacement for our factory turbo...just replace and tune.

I could be wrong but I thought there was a K04-027 or -030 avail as well...you'd probably be maxing it out around 400HP though (maybe 360-370WHP). A K24 series twin-scroll Borg-Warner might also work with our manifolds though lag would be pretty significant compared to the stock K04. The 50 trim kit from dejon or synapses kit would easily get you to that 400-450HP region though.
well before my first poast was rudely deleted haha i would love to do a turbo swap but untill they figure out the fueling its just not worth it i have even thought of just taken the lnf out and selling it and just doing a custom build up who knows i have been know to waste alot of money in cars haha
^^ Synapses kit, with full bolt-ons, a good clutch, a traction mod or three and SLICKS should get you damn close if you can drive. You'd be putting down about 390WHP and 390WTQ in a 2900lb car...you do the math, lol. A good/great driver should scrape into 11's in that setup, maybe better...I'd love to have it myself if I had the extra cash
I don't think engine strength is an issue...the LE5 block has been pushed well over 400HP and it doesn't have a forged crank, oil-cooled pistons OR the benefit of a lower compression ratio and the cooling effect of direct injection. These blocks will hit their breaking point but I don't think its 400WHP if properly tuned...it wouldn't surprise me to see 500+WHP LNF monsters on stock internals once (if ever) HP Tuners gets access to those additional tables.
Fueling becomes an issue past 6700RPM or so from what I've read, the pulse width window is just too small...and it's somewhat independent of power created until that point. Synapses kit makes peak power in the 5600RPM area and starts to fall off after 6K, they don't even rev the car past 6500 in their dyno runs. I'd say there is not too much to worry about so long as A/F ratio's look good....that 4 grand in initial cost PLUS a new clutch, slicks and other goodies is my major sticking point, lol.

there are several companies working on a turbo upgrade kit but as said before you can only do but so much untill the fueling is figured out. I personally think you can hit high 11s with the stock turbo if your a good driver and have great tires it shouldnt be an issue my car feels just about as fast as my vette and i was running 11.80s in that its just getting it off the line that holds us back

Wait until we can control the fuel pressure on these things. Otherwise you are going to have less than desireable driveabilitly especially in the upper revs. Hurry up HP Tuners.
