Mine too just last week. I unhooked the hose for now.

Once I filled up and it didn't trip the filler so gas spewed out everywhere.

Another time I filled up and the car was SOOOOOOOO freaking hard to get started. That was embarrassing.
At least they are not expensive. I'm thinking of putting in like a weld tip like the "pill" mod. Put it in the open end that used to be connected to the solenoid. So I don't get "check gas cap" messages. I don't know if that would work, but ultimately I'll probably just replace it.

I'm out of warranty for those questioning why I would bother with all that. I'm over 50K miles. NO, it's NOT covered under powertrain.

My hahn exhaust melted the evap canister and they can make me a heatshield and replace the part so it wont happen again for the low low price of 600$.

mine has been out for 10k miles now... at 52k right now. Dealt with the CEL for 2.5 months LOL. Just replaced it 10 mins ago. 20 bux for the part. We'll see how it acts tomorrow throughout the day. Planning on driving around 250 miles tomorrow with prolly 10 start ups. Hopefully the code will not pop up again.

That is a corrupt ass dealership, I would have punched the guy in the face. The purge solenoid is on the intake manifold and has nothing to do or isnt even close to the exhaust

Bought a new one. (not yet installed)
But, after disconnecting the hose... putting in a restriction to flow in the open line did take care of the gas cap messages.

I had a check gas cap code a few times last year, I removed, clean and reconnected all of the fittings on the purge canister and no issues since.

Just installed it earlier. I feel better. It's literally like a 1-2 minute deal. One bolt, one hose, one electrical plug and bam... done.
GM Direct has them $31 shipped or I paid about $40 at the dealer.

Add me to the list. Its not worth going to the dealer for a $22 part. Just be happy not to look like a tool because the car cranks for 5 min after gettin gas
