Anybody Wit A Modded Computer
Oh so not true
In the current state that GM is in and I believe they will not make it from my sources inside the company....GM is looking for tunes and such on these cars..... All LNF powered cars for that matter..... And they are investigating things... often these days.....
Besides, the Government is now part owner of all our cars...

To answer your question though...Yes Re-programming your ECU can void your warranty. I've had 1 friend ever get his car blacklisted (yes they use that term) from GM, that was on a 2001 GTP with everybolt on possible, GM covered 2 trannies under warranty BEFORE they said enough is enough, though I will admit the 2nd trannie was a defective unit (had a bad TC).
Its all going to depend on your local dealer and what issue you go in for. That is why I would recommend getting a 2ndry ECM and have it re-programmed, then us your stock one if you happen to need it for a dealer visit. Or wait for the GM Tune which "might" be out sometime this year, though I'm not sure. I know a service director at my local dealer, while I had the car in for its first oil change over the weekend (tuned and all..which they did check for codes w/ none present) we were talking, they need any business they can get right now, and I dont think they are worried about GM wanting them to "really get down to investigate each issue". Now if you come in w/ a blown motor or something more "out of the norm" they have always done that.
Oh I will give Brad a heads up on this one.
In a nut shell...before any tech can do any powertrain work on your car...they have to scan the tune, take a picture of it, and send it to GM.
Then GM looks to see if the parameters have been changed, and say aye or nay...it isn't like a tech can just 'do it under the radar' so yes, tuning your ecm gangsta cheese, will void your powertrain warranty.
And if anyone screams and whines and moans about the M/M act I am going to kick you square in the ******* nuts

"To each his own" I always say.
Happy trails.
