Anyone with Synapse intercooler chime in!

First of all i have searched and couldnt find anything!

Im looking at puchasing the synapse intercooler but i would like to know how much, if any had to be trimmed off the bumper. Im not too keen on cutting my bumper on a new car.

Also have you had any troubles with the intercooler

Very little. I was worried too, but it ended up being maybe 1/4" of black plastic that doesn't do anything anyway. Its pretty darn tight in there, but everything is fine. Have had mine on for 5k miles or so without any problems.

Hardly have to cut the bumper, no one will know you cut it even if they take off your bumper and look. Be warned though, me and one other person have had the intercooler crack boosting over 22lbs.

ive been using their intercooler for about 9 months now. about 18K miles and boosting 22PSI (spikes up to 24PSI). I have had no problems with the intercooler. I thought i had a problem but it was my coupler on crooked. I live 5 minutes from Synapse Turbo. I talked to them and at that time they were only aware of 1 guy cracking his intercooler. A few problems/defects out of all the intercoolers out there is not all that bad. Im sure every intercooler company has had intercoolers come back with cracked welds etc. its one of those "thats the nature of the business". aluminum repeatedly pressurized and depressurized is going to stress.

IAT's run about 3 degrees cooler then the stock IC from what I have noticed. Synapse's IC is also much better to do back to back highway runs because it does not heat soak near as fast.

Yes, just needed to be re-welded. I will say that Synapse themselves don't do as good of a job as the guy I had re-weld mine. Synapse had re-welded the spot that cracked originally and it cracked again. Had some one else re-weld it and it's holding up fine now.

Just mentioning because it HAS happened. Meaning it could again. Could you ask Synapse if they press the plates back together when they re-weld or if they just weld over it?

I boost to 22psiand spike to 24 as well and have had no problems, but I don't drive my car hard all the time. I grew up in the metal industry and their welds are as good as any I have ever seen. Metal is metal and it tends not to like to be stressed repeatedly, so I'm sure some are going to develop cracks. I'm not a vendor humper (as I have different parts from most of the vendors) and can say that I personally think its an excellent product.

bascially trim out the entire inner skeleton from around the foglamp areas... and it'll take you a couple times of taking the bumper on and off... but you'll see exactly where it hits...

I used a very sharp box knife, and it worked great.

Love the intercooler saw a drop of 20* in my IAT2s. Today ambient temp was 80* IAT1 was 75* and my IAT2s were 78*

It's doing a good job!

How much did you have to trim? I didn't have to trim anything near the foglights to have it fit and I barely had to cut any off at all.

No, not really more or less just the stuff at the bottom near the lip, where the bumper curves in and the I/C stays straight!

I honestly didn't have to trim ALOT, it was just time consuming taking it off, putting it on!
