Atmospheric BOV, relocate MAF & Tune Re-map

I have not had a chance to up-date the foum with the projects we have been working on.

I finally have a little time and thought I would let everyone know what we are up to.

We have been working with a few customers who wanted to install atmospheric BOV (Blow Off valves) and NOT have the air/fuel ratio problems associated with doing so. In cooperation with TriFecta Performance, we have successfully relocated the stock MAF to the cold side boost tube and TriFecta has written a tune to re-map the MAF for the size an location of the tubing. For those customers who have already sent their BOV flanges in, we have precisely located and welded them on to our hot side boost tubing.

We do NOT sell BOV's as there are too many to stock, but we now offer the parts to allow owners to install them correctly.

Cold side boost tube with relocated MAF, MAF extension, MAF block-off plate (for stock MAF flange on intake), powder coating, 5-ply silicone couplers and stainless T-bolt clamps is $150.00. (Tri-Fecta tune is required for this to work correctly or custom tuning to re-map the MAF is required.) Hot side boost tubing is available with locating and welding your BOV flange (must be steel) for $325.00 or $35.00 to weld the BOV flange to your existing tubing and cost of stripping and powder coating.

Installation of BOV, vacuum line hook-up and removal of the stock bypass valve are to be performed by the owner. Stock bypass block-off plate is coming soon.

Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks all.

very interesting, my BOV is giving me some problems and its making me want to get rid of it, i run it atmospheric, and after it blows off mostly in 3rd or 4th it gives the car a little hesitation, like a misfire. i recirculate it and it runs fine, but then why the hell did i buy a BOV just to recirculate it and not hear it again? stock one was just fine then. So i will keep this in consideration, but how involved is retuning for MAF relocation?

You are having problems because "metered air" (read by the MAF) is being released from a closed system and there is no way for the pcm to account for the loss. That's why the stock valve re-cirulates back into the intake, AFTER the MAF, since the air has already been read and accounted for by the PCM. As for what is involved in retuning for the reloacted MAF, I leave that to Vince of TriFecta.

Is an aftermarket air intake required for this? And when will the stock bypass valve block off plate be availaible?

an aftermarket intake is not required. just the re-calibration of the maf sensor.block off plate should be available very soon.

So, what advantage does this have over recirculating the BOV?

pretty much what he said. its pretty stupid if you ask me to buy an aftermarket bov and then recirculate it. at the point your doing the same thing as the stock bpv. this makes it so that an aftermarket bov is able to vent to the atmosphere without causing a rich spike in the a/f ratio.

Until you run more poundage than the stock BPV can withstand. I can tell you running 24psi on my stock turbo, the stock BPV didn't like it too much.

yeah it probablly didnt like it too much. but reality is recirculating it is only done for cars that have to have the air recirculated. this way you wont wont run into problems with the ecu. but yes this is actually mainly just so that you can run a bov to the atmosphere. i plan on running a rather large turbo and on any previous turbo cars ive owned my camaro included ive always vented to the atmohphere. ive never recirculated it.

Cause our cars are melt to recirculate . The computer is motor and computer are expecting to get that are back when your throwing it away.

^yea and i know that, and it seems like everything runs fine but that little hesitation just gets annoying and i get paranoid after awhile. other then that there really isnt a problem with venting it, but with an aftermarket intake skewing readings and then Atmospheric BOV's messin more **** up, i feel like somethings gonna give

venting to the atmosphere is fine with the sensor recalibration. also even wth the short ram form clear image they modified a tune so that the a/f tables will not be skewed by an aftermarket intake. the sensor has been calibrated so that the computer will read what the sensor is telling it.

prob not needed with the stock turbo. But I give props to being a leader in this field.

+1 for Dan and the Crew at CIA , got my downpipe in and it is beautiful, installed with a lift in literally 6 mins with me talking. Perfect fit. Rattles a little at decel , little drone, but should be fun with the stg kit. Thanks again Dan for putting up with my calls. LOL

definately not needed with a stock turbo. a lot of people were just asking how to get a bov to work. dan and i talked and got the project together and got it done so that a lot of of people that wanted an atmospheric bov are now able to
