Axle seals

So i need to replace my axles and I am going to be doing this on Saturday. do i need to replace my axle seals? they are not leaking but my CV joints are trashed. just wondering if I should replace them while im in there or if its not worth it.

Thanks!

It never hurts to do, but it's probably not really needed. I've had my axles in and out of my car a few times and my seals have never leaked on me. Just rub a bit of trans fluid on the axles where it comes in contact with the seals before you install the new axles so they slide in without hurting the seal and you should be fine. In other words.... never insert your shaft dry.

Yeah it's a pretty easy job. Just make sure you get your hands on a 35mm deep socket (or equivalent axle nut tool) and a good impact gun. Do you need the torque specs for the sway bar end links and axle nuts for when you put everything back together?

::edit:: oh and the lower ball joint and tie rod as well

If you have them I might as well get them from you, save me having to look for them later.

Mine are popping when i start from a dead stop and when I go around corners I can hear it growl. My shifter also rocks back and forth.

I dont know tbh. Car has been lowered for 20k miles. Just started doing it about 6 months ago and I never could figure out what the cause was. Dealership said my axles were good...but its gotten worse. we dont use salt out here, its all just sand.

Yup! Better have a friend handy with a nice long pry bar to hold the hub steady for ya. lol.. Or at least one long enough to wedge in the studs and use the ground as leverage.
