Only thing I dislike about Smax is the size and having to cut the bumper support.... now their stock size would be baller if it wasn't soo expensive!

My old F350 SuperDuty had a smaller IC than the SMAX big core, and after all the stuff I did made a shitload more power than a Cobalt That thing is obnoxiously big. Sometimes bigger is better, but to an extent!

BUT TOO big causes added stress on the turbo...

It's finding that fine line between too big and not big enough... The HAHN seems too big... IMO the Synapse is too big too... but flows exceptionally well due to the fantastic Garrett core

the smax has 2 IC's the big one and the stock replacement on that doesnt require modding the impact bar...dyno results were posted for both intercoolers by the same member who tried them both out

This test you mean?

Runs #3 vs. #6 don't do a good job of selling the smaller IC. Peak power was less than the OEM IC with cooler IAT's to its advantage even.

Before someone flames me, I have no horse in this race mmmmmkay

I think its 28 actually. Regardless, I think these are all the dimensions of the IC list above.

525 CI - Stock 28*6 1/4*3

672 CI - Synapse 24*8*3.5

672 CI - Dejon 24*8*3.5

848 CI - Hahn 26.5*8*4

864 CI - CraySteve 24*12*3

960 CI - S-Max OEM 30*8*4

1440 CI - S-Max Tuner 30*12*4

The S-Max Intercoolers are estimated core dimensions, judging by pictures. The numbers are listed in the S-Max thread, but I think the length isnt the actual core length but the actual intercooler length. I have posted what I believe to be core dimensions ONLY.

Metal to metal ends on mine I got 27.25" but either way it is long but not very tall or thick.

Weirddddd. I measured mine 3 times, and I keep coming up with 28. Maybe my stocker is bigger, or my tape measure is broken...damn chinese manufacturing.

If we're going off of just CFM of the k04 at 22 PSI, we wouldn't need a core any bigger than 12*6*3 inches, but I doubt how well it would actually cool. *These numbers are based off of Bell Air-to-Air Intercooler Cores.*

I can tell you right now with my "custom" intercooler which was a 18x6x3.5" core my IATs at 22 psi were 115-120* at WOT.

With my Synapse at 22 psi they are 87-90* at WOT. Sure we don't need bigger, but the smaller heat soaks much much quicker!

Exactly. I completely agree. We just need to find that perfect balance, of size and cooling. Maybe Synapse and Dejon have it right. I just dont like the flow design. Combine CrazySteves ends and use Synapses core. Perfect IC, IMO

The flow design is the only issue I have with the Synapse...

Combine the HAHN endtanks with the synapse intercooler and it'll be perfect

Clear Image Auto did some testing like that and found that that stock intercooler is extremely efficient compared to aftermarket and is waste pretty much to upgrade

As of now, being that I'm gonna keep the stock turbo for awhile, I'm just gonna keep the stock intercooler.

I have the hahn and i would say its the best out of all our choices. Its better then the synapse cause theres is 3.5 in thick and the hahn is 4.5 in thick.
